WOW! What else can you say about something so beautiful and sweet? Cadence arrived just today to our home for foster. She is:
- Dark Red
- Approx. 60+ lbs
- Female (not spayed yet)
- Good with our cats
- Good with our dogs
- Very friendly
- Loves fetch
- Loves people
- Drop dead gorgeous!
Cadence (KAY DENCE) arrived today and she traveled great. She is enjoying our fenced in yard and playing fetch. She has only been here about a half day now. She has adjusted so wonderful in a very short period. She has met 4 dogs and 3 cats so far. She is a total beauty of a golden retriever as you can see…..just stunning. Cadence has her first vet appointment tomorrow and we can report more information at that time. We already love having her here.

Our little beautiful miss had her initial well visit the other day. First, she is fine riding in the vehicle…….a little unsure if it is ‘ok’ and not what you call ‘steady’ on her feet when you take a corner, slow of course! But once she got the hang of it, hey, that is nice! She thought that is pretty nice looking out and around, sniffing the air and seeing all these new things to see! Yep, liked that alrighty.
She was very good at the vet. Super good behavior(s). While in the office, other dogs, and with the vet in general. She did wonderful getting examined, received a bordetella injection, ear checks, and just an all over body check. Of course our vet thought she was a wonderful beautiful girl too!!
She is on some ear meds for a week to clear out a small yeast infection, which was not bad at all (a little smell); we have not seen any type of seizure since we have had her (diagnosed prior to surrender to Ragom) and vet did re-new her Phenobarbital meds. She has had her frontline and is current on everything.
Cadence is so well behaved and so gentle. She is 63# and in great shape and an ideal weight. Beautiful dark red ‘shiny’ soft coat. She is scheduled to be spayed next Monday the 22nd. She has a super personality………. In experimenting with treats and commands, she is going to be super with training! She will ‘sit’ and wait for her treat; she will ‘fetch’ and ‘give-it’ with her ball which she loves! In taking her for a long walk with my other younger dog who is 7, she was awesome. Both dogs on their harness, walked hand-in-hand, and she was just great. Very easy to walk. Fine with other noises, people and distractions. She is still 2 ½ and acts her age however……..So fun……..
Her manners with the other crew here is fine. She is being fed 2X a day and takes her phenol with peanut butter just fine. Her recall with playing fetch is getting great. This is a dog would love obedience classes! She loves her walks, and just loves attention! She is so fun to watch while she ‘snoops’……….checks out the garbage cans in the house….(no-no), fake plants (no no), and she is such a little lover. Wow. She is quiet at night all night long. She is gated in a large room off the master bedroom at night and the few hours I am at work during the morning. She has done fine. No destruction (s). Cadence is a great golden girl!

Cadence girl, what can you say? Just a great golden girl. Your typical young golden who loves her ball and people and of course attention. I can't quit taking photos of her....it is so much fun.
We will go back a couple days: Miss Kadie is on a lower dose of Phenobarbital for seizures; she came to us with those however we had not experienced one until this past Thursday. Prior to us getting her, I am not sure how often, long, or bad these were. To my knowledge they were just diagnosed in June of this year. Kadie is baby gated in a large room and Thursday morning early, about 4:30 am, we could hear the baby gate shaking. Sure enough, she was having a seizure. Calming her, I wrapped her up in a towel, kept her head elevated on my lap and just waited until it passed. It also takes them a little time to come 'out of them'. About a half hour or so later, she was fine. Ate a good breakfast and since, we have been great. Of course I called the vet and we have increased her dose of Phenobarbital and see how she does (as the first dose was quite low to begin with). So far so good. It is a matter of finding the 'right dose' with these things. I do not think dogs remember them, just lost 'some time' someplace, and then move on....no idea. Unless anything else comes up, we are still on for her spay in a couple days (Monday). That too, will be so nice to have behind her.
She is doing so wonderful here. This is one very bright golden. When she becomes 'interested' in the cats, a firm 'no' and she is fine. (the darn cats have a million hiding places so they are just fine). In learning to 'retrieve' what I have tried and found with her beloved ball is: she loves to chase it, bring it back, but NOT 'give it' to me all the time. So with very small treats every once in a while and tell her when she comes back with the ball to 'leave it!" she does.....that is working great. In walking her: I take her with our younger border collie mix, Maggie (7). The 'girls' both have a regular harness on, and walk just terrific together. Cadence (Kadie) really loves her walks. A little sniff here and there, but nothing much at all. Nothing startles her; oncoming traffic, kids screaming/playing, lawn fertilizer trucks, etc. Just perfect. Of course we sure get the 'look' when you walk a couple of beauties too! Yepper........
Kadie sleeps quiet all night. Is ready and raring in the morning, that ol' tail just a going ready for a new day. All the dogs eat at their stations and she is very mindful of her spot and absolutely no problems. During the morning feeding she gets her pheno/benedryl. She eats it fine in her food but also likes it with peanut butter. She gets the same thing in the evening. Phenobarbital needs to be given every 12 hours so pretty much on time all the time. If a owner cannot give this close to the time they should have it, it would be beneficial to have someone who could. That is a very important part in management of these seizures and to find the exact dosage. Some articles I have read are: www.canine-epilepsy-guardian-angels.com/phenobarbital.htm and www.canine-epilepsy.com/Phenobarbital.html and finally www.wikihow.com/Get-Help-for-Dogs-with-Canine-Epilepsy.
They are small pills thank goodness. She takes them just fine. The food she is on is: Native Performance-Level 2 www.nativedogfood.com/level2.html
This golden girl is such a true JOY to have for a foster. She has total beauty inside and out and is going to make an awesome companion for a great family. We had our grand daughter over (3 1/2 ) and she loved her. Kadie did come from a family with small kids whom she really enjoyed from my notes. Kadie's re-call is great. She enjoys our fenced yard but she is really only concerned about playing ball or being by human(s)....not interested that we have seen, in chasing critters or birds. She really enjoys this nice weather, and who doesn't? The sun shining on you, your ball, your human, your bowl of water....doesn't' get better than that!
Kadie is now enjoying a nyla bone and that is a good thing. She also loves to haul doggie beds around! It is so funny and cute. Just take them out of the bedroom and bring them ALL out to the living room, just digging in them gently as if to 'nest?" So darn cute....and cheap entertainment to boot!
Cadence is a wonderful foster girl........we really enjoy her. She is right here next to me!

Our lovely girl is now spayed. She is coming along pretty good, slow but sure. The surgery went fine and her blood levels, weight, and all around health is very good. So far the Phenobarbital dosage has worked perfectly. We have not had any other seizures. Cadence is of course on pain meds for a few days following her spay but other than that, just great. This is the kind of dog you could constantly take pictures of and love up all the time. She is incredibly bright and a very quick learner. She knows now right where she goes to be at night, what time and goes right back by us to her blanket and pillow.
She knows when I leave for work in the morning and the same thing, knows right where to go. I do keep her baby-gated yet, while at work for the few hours (which she actually likes back there….large big room with a window………) for monitoring purposes with the seizures and medication. And of course now, the spay. For short times she is now left out with free run and is just fine. Our little girl is still sore and a little pooped from the spay, however, is eating well and just really enjoying her lovin’! I think Cadence would really love to ‘go out there and play ball’ but no-no for now. Therefore, keeping things ‘boring and quiet’ for her at the present time. She will have the go ahead to begin walks and play in a few days. Poor young gal, wondering why we aren’t out there playing fetch and going for our long walks. Cadence has such a great grasp of schedules, listening skills, and patience for such a youngster. Incredibly bright.
This girl is a pure delight to foster. She now has so much of the physical aspects behind her, it will be full speed ahead. Cadence takes her meds like the gentle golden she is. Never a problem. And yes, a nice wet black nose to nudge you in the morning with a beautiful golden face to wake up too. Cadence continues to grow in so many ways inside and out. Just a true beautiful girl!
Cadence will be making an appearance at the Doggie Palooza.
We will be there from 10 - 3.

Cady is simply just a doll! She is sweet, gentle, well-behaved and just a great girl. Her favorite thing to do at our house is to carry around "Mr. Squirrel" and "Ratty" and try to find the best place for them! She will go from room to room and put them on the couch, chair or any other place she feels they will be comfortable, it is very endearing. They are like her babies, it is just so sweet.
Cady loves to go for walks and gets so excited when I get the leash out. She can hardly control herself, only to sit down long enough for me to get the leash hooked!
Cady will make that special family complete. She does not need another dog. I would like her to have a forever home with a fence. She needs someone to just love her which is not hard because she is so loveable : )
Cady is so easy to have around. Her sweet personality and independant spirit is refreshing. She is super calm for a 2 year old furr girl. We just love her and will be happpy to care for her and make this her home until she finds that special forever family. If you think Cady sounds like she could make your family complete, contact your placement advisor or email placement@ragom.org and ask to meet sweet Cady!

Cady continues to do very well at our house. She is a delight and is so funny especially when she shakes her “babies!” She just whips them all over and they FLY in the air, it is so great to watch her having fun! She has been with us for over two weeks and it feels like she has been with us forever. She is adorable and sweet, silly and funny, wonderful and priceless! I can’t emphasize how much we love her. We have been “borrowing” my neighbors fenced in yard and she runs, runs and runs like the wind. We have a fenced in yard, but the pool takes up most of the yard so the dogs really can’t run in there, unless they run across the pool tarp, which she loves to do. The girl loves to get wet from the water on top of the tarp, little stinker. When I opened the pool, the only way she got wet was when she fell in!
Our only struggle is her seizures. She has not had one for a week and we have increased her pheno, so we are hoping that does the trick – we will have her tested in another 2 weeks to see if her levels are where they should be. The good thing is that when she does have a seizure, the doctor said that she does not know what is happening so that is good. I just hold her and love her up when she is having one. My sister-in-law’s dog has seizures and she asked me if she went blind, I am not sure, but it is possible because the last one she had she tried to walk onto the end table. The seizures make me love Cady more. She just needs someone who will accept her the way she is. Unfortunately, she was dealt this hand in her life and so she needs someone who will take one day at a time and when she needs to get through the seizures, she need someone to love her up. I love helping her and getting her through those hard times. It makes me love her more : ) She is a brave little girl. We are hoping to get her to the point where she will have them very infrequently, but that takes some time while we adjust the meds accordingly. Until then, she is not available for adoption, but if you would like to wait for her until she is ready, that is fine too. She would love to have her forever home all lined up and ready to go!

Cadence does the silliest things! First, she LOVES to drag all of the dog beds all over the house! The other morning my son said, "why is the dog bed in the bathroom!" I just laughed and said "your foster sister insists on relocating all of the dog beds!" Cady also started making the craziest noise when she stretches in the morning. First of all she has a really a LOW voice. For such a petite girl, she sure has a masculine voice! When she stretches, she makes a noise like a seal! It is hysterical. She sure keeps us rolling in laughs around here! Cady LOVES to play ball and go for walks. We walked 4 miles tonight and I am sure she could go another 4, but FM had to walk the other dog too! I cannot walk them together because resident GR is naughty around other dogs on a leash and it is difficult when we approach another dog when I have two leashes. Cady is a dream to walk! Resident should take some lessons from her! FD hurt his foot, so he is worthless in the "walking the dog department" and so we have to go seperate. I am happy to report that Cady has not had a seizure in 8 days. In one week we will go back to the vet and check her pheno levels. If she stays seizure free and her levels are within an acceptable range, we should be good to go! Thanks for reading up on our Cady! She appreciates all of the support from her fans! |
Here are some new photos of Cadence.
Enjoy!

Cady continues to be a joy to have around. As far as her seizures, her pheno levels are exactly where they should be. Her recent seizure was only 15 seconds and we feel we are moving in the right direction. We are going to the vet and they will add Bromide into her medication regimen and that should do the trick. Maybe we can eliminate them all, or if we can get her down to a couple a year, we will be successful. We do know her triggers and that is helpful. The vet is one of them, the pet store or any stressful event sets them off for her. She seems to internalize all of her stress and then to let it out, she has a seizure. A quiet and stable home is what we are looking for with Cady.
She just needs someone to hang out with, go for walks, maybe a swim once in awhile. We are also requiring LOTS of stuffed animals, she just loves them. It keeps her entertained and us too! Of course she needs a couple of dog beds to drag around the house. She continues to entertain us with that too!
Cady continues to make us laugh. She LOVES her stuffed animals and last night she was shaking Mr. Squirrelly so hard and then she would let go and it went flying to the other side of the room. Who says Squirrels’ don’t fly – haha. Cady is extremely affectionate and just leans into your for hugs and scratches. She is the most loveable dog there is.
We have a great weekend in store for Cady, we will share more later : )
Thank you for following Cady’s journey
Cadence is back with the RAGOM family in foster care because of her seizures. We are working on reducing these and found out that her thyroid is low which can be the cause, so she is now on meds for her low thyroid.
Cadence is a beautiful girl with a spunky spirit! She has her funny quirks and we love her all the more for it. She likes to stay busy, so we always have a marrow bone available (not so great when she drops them on the new wood floor : ) and a kong filled with her favorite treat.
More to come as we work on resolving these pesky seizures. In the meantime, keep her in your thoughts : )

Cadence Loves to Help Prepare Meals!!!
Well, little Miss Cady feels very touched to have sponsors! Thank you Barb, Ken and RAGOM girl Cassie for being Cady’s sponsors. What a special gift! Cadence is on several medications for seizures and for low thyroid and your contribution will help defer these costs. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and little Cady gives you a big kiss and a AROOOO!!!
Cady is 9 days out from having a seizure. We upped her dose of pheno slightly and we are hoping this did the trick. I do have to say that her legs are a little weak, but I am hoping over time that her body will adjust to the meds and she will be strong again. I have also switched Cady to a raw diet. She gets a raw meat patty – this consists of ground chicken (including the bones) veggies and fruits. We also rotate bananas, sweet potatoes, green beans, raw carrots and sometimes pumpkin. She absolutely loves it and seems to be less puffy. It is recommended that this diet be used for seizure dogs. She was already beautiful, but her coat is just gorgeous and she is starting to lose the much needed pounds that she has gained.
We absolutely adore Cady. She is just a sweetheart and has settled into our routine well. She loves, loves, loves her walks. She is a gem of a walker too! She does not dilly dally and is just perfect in this department. Cady really likes to stay busy, so at night she gets a marrow bone – also part of her raw diet. She chews to her heart’s content and it keeps her occupied. Cady cannot wait until the pool is open. She lays on top of the cover, which is filled with water due to this spring thaw. I know she will be a great swimmer : )
Thank you for following Cady’s story. She is such a dear, dear soul and just wants to get better. Thank you again to Barb, Ken and Cassie girl for sponsoring her.

Cady and her foster sister

Sweet dreams Cady girl...
Cady is doing well and actually has not had a seizure for 15 days. She continues to take her meds like a trooper. I now put her meds in her food (typically in her yogurt) and she is not aware they are in there : ) Like I said earlier, her back legs seem weak from the meds, but I do have to say that is getting better. Before when she would come from upstairs, she would land FLAT on her tummy on the bottom of the stairs, now she keeps her legs under her. She continues to do well on the raw diet and loves it.
Cady loves to be busy and I would love to see her do agility or be a therapy dog some day. That would keep her mind busy. It is said that the pheno is most likely making her this way, but with an outlet, she will do well. She is a happy girl and loves to “talk” to people. She is one smart cookie : )
Cady is a beautiful girl and has the sweetest little face. I am hoping that once her seizures have decreased she will be available for adoption. She needs someone committed to her medical needs and to give her a “job.” Until then, she loves hanging out with us and is a happy girl. She continues to lay on the pool cover and comes to the door soaking wet – little stinker!
Thank you for following her story and a big thank you to her sponsors!
Cady will be attending the PetSmart event on Saturday in Roseville. We will be there from 11 – 1. Maybe she can meet some of her fans : )
We have good news to share. Cady has not had a seizure for 24 days!!! That is the longest she has ever gone without a seizure I am hoping that between her meds, her raw diet and all of the nutritional supplements she is getting, that these measures are doing the trick. She has also lost 6 pounds!
We would like to thank Gail and Ceasar 08-386 for donating the most wonderful supplements to Cady. She is taking the same supplements as Ceasar and wow, you should see how wonderful he looks! What a handsome guy!
We are not quite sure how long Cady will be unavailable. Some day she will be available for adoption. At that time we need someone who will continue the same regimen she is on in regards to her medication, raw diet and the nutritional supplements. All of these elements are key to the most recent successes we have had with our beautiful girl.
Other than that, Cady has been getting tons of exercise with a couple of walks per day. She loves her walks and is a charm on a leash. Cady is excited to see what the Easter bunny is going to bring her, probably raw carrots haha!
Thank you to Cady's sponsors, Barb, Ken and RAGOM girl Cassie. Cady has had a lot of medical expenses (I forgot to mention she had a tooth pulled - ouch) and without your help Cady would not be able to get the care she needs.
Thank you for following Cady's story.
Cadence Ann has been with us for 4 months now and we just love this little girl. She is so sweet and has such enduring traits. She can be a stubborn little tike, so we have to make sure that we are playing the role of pack leader, otherwise, she likes to be the boss : )
We have good news to share and not so good news to share. The good news is that Cady has lost 10 pounds! We attribute this to her raw diet and a 5 mile walk every day. She loves her walks and we are happy that she is regaining her girly figure just in time for the swimming season! The not so good news is that we are still struggling with seizures. She did go one entire month without one and then - BAM - Easter night she has a seizure. Then again 2 weeks later and then 8 days later, which was last night. We are contemplating adding another med, but the vets want to give the raw diet at least 8 weeks, so we have a couple more weeks to go. Other than her seizures, she is a lovely girly. She is beautiful, cuddly, sweet and fun! This poor girl was just cursed with this horrible condition. At least the seizures only last 5 – 10 seconds and then it takes her about 30 minutes to come out of them. We just hold her and pet her and tell her what a good girl she is. She also goes blind after and she insists on “walking it off,” so I lead her around the room a couple of times and then she knows the territory and does not bump into anything.
People have asked me if it is scary to have a dog that has seizures and I guess we are used to them, so no, it is not scary, but just sad. Sad that Cady has this condition. We try to make every minute in her life special, lots of cuddling, petting, playing, walking and lovin’. She deserves the best and I know that she knows she is loved a lot.
Thank you for reading Cady’s on-going story.
Cady has been visiting a Reiki Master the last two weekends. Nancy is a certified Reiki Master and has been practicing Reiki for over 5 years on humans. She has volunteered her services to RAGOM to help dogs overcome emotional and physical traumas. Reiki is an energy-based hands-on therapy that can ease discomfort and pain, relieve stress and anxiety, aid physical healing and enhance the quality of life. On the first visit, Cady was very aggitated and was not willing to "accept" the therapy. Well, we tried again this weekend and Cady was receptive and as a matter of fact was so relaxed and peaceful that we could not wake her up! She was totally in tune with Nancy and I am so very pleased to say that she has been so relaxed at home too! We are going to meet with Nancy again next weekend and possibly one more session after that. Cady is normally a little "edgy" and this is from her meds. Since our session, she has not been edgy and has been just so relaxed. It is amazing! I want to thank Nancy for donating her time to our Cady girl! She has a gift of healing...
I thought it would be fun to take a picture of what Cady eats! This meal contains her raw meat patty, bananas, baked sweet potatoes and green beans. She loves her meals and her coat is just beautiful from all of the great food she is getting. She was a lucky duck this weekend and FM took her to the RAGOM doggy wash and got all nice and pretty and boy does she smell wonderful!

Cadence's Food!
Today is the day that Cady is marked as "available." It will take a special person to adopt our Cady because of her special needs. We visited the U of M today and talked to a neurologist. Just as we thought, Cady has epilipsy. As you all know, she is on meds for her condition, but he basically said that we are doing everything we can for Cady. I was very sad to know that the seizures will affect the length of her life.
His prognosis is that she will live approximately 5 1/2 years from the onset of her seizures, which as far as we can tell were about 2 years ago. This means that Cady only has about 3 - 4 years left in her life. This news obvioulsy makes us all very sad, but we will make the next 4 or so years just the best that they can be. The reason for this prognosis is because every time she has a seizure, it affects her brain and her behavior and her quality of life will deteriorate.
We know there is a special family out there for Cady that will give her this quality of life that she so deserves. Until then, her foster family will let her be the best that she can be and give her everything she needs including the most love possible...
Here are pictures of Cady enjoying the nice weather!

Sitting Pretty

Our Little Beauty

A Golden and her ball......
Cady had a great time at the Pet Smart event today! Thank you for one of her fans for the new chew toy and the squeeky tennis ball! How thoughtful of you! It is enduring to know that once I say who she is,everyone knows her story, her challenges. I am somewhat surprised that she is still in foster care with me. She is a beautiful, wonderful girl who happens to have one special need. As far as what her future holds, all I can say is that we all are blessed to have today and should enjoy and appreciate it to its fullest. None of us know what the future holds...
Cady was exhausted today as she had her Reiki session before the Pet Smart event. Get a load of the picture below, she was one pooped pup!!! Yes, she is pretty spoiled too and is allowed where ever she feels comfortable...even on the teenagers massage chair!

Cadence made a great discovery today...she found a very big stick under one of our pine trees! What a find! She was so, so happy! I did not realize she had it because I was looking elsewhere when we were walking around the yard and I looked over at her and she was proudly carrying her new prize! Enjoy the goofy pictures of her and her prize : ) Silly girl!

Wow, I am so excited because FM opened the pool today! Woohoo! I went in several times, even if I slipped in, guess I got too close to the edge, oops! I found out how to swim to the stairs and get out all by myself. My foster sister Penny can get out in the deep end up the stairs, she is a kooky girl! She also dives 8 feet to the bottom and retrieves her toy torpedo. FM should enter it in AFV (America's Funniest Videos) she would win for sure! We had some other RAGOM pupps here to swim and it was fun running around and stealing their tennis ball! Gotta go take a nap. Being a bathing beauty is exhausting!

Ahhhh, the life of a sun goddess. It's a rough one, but someone's gotta do it! So, so happy that it is me! Another day at the pool, ahhhh the summer days of Minnesota, gotta love it! We spent most of the afternoon today lounging at the pool and sunning ourselves. The maid brought out doggie snacks and ice cold beverages and we had a GRRReat time! My beautiful red coat is getting highlighted with golden streaks from the sun and my swimsuit figure is coming back with all of the paddling I am doing. Foster Mom said I need to work on my entry into the pool, apparently she thinks I look clumsy when I slip into the water. I feel I am graceful and my GR doggie friends agree...humans, what do they know! I posed for some more pictures, so enjoy!!!

Cady will be attending the Fury Motors dog event. She will be there from 11-2. Come and meet this sweet girl! There will be a line-up for her, she has quite the fan club : )
Cady has enjoyed having a new foster brother in the house - Louie 09-220. They wrestle, play tug and just run around like kooky heads! Resident GR, Penny Rose, is too old for these young whipper snappers! Enjoy the new pictures!

Cadence has been doing more swimming and loving it. When we open the automatic cover, she goes down the steps and starts her laps! She just loves it and it is especially refreshing after a long walk. She was looking pudgy for awhile there and now she looks trim again. All of the exercise is so good for her. Her meds make her a little antsy, so keeping her busy is a good thing. FD was affected by the economy and so he is home all day with the furr butts, so they are pretty spoiled with many walks and someone to play with them all day.
Cady is a good girl, but she has her moments. Her meds make her thirsty, so we are up at 4:00 am for a potty break and then she is starving around 5:45 am. I make up her food the night before so I walk in a coma down to the kitchen and just take her food out of the frig. She gobbles it up and typically finishes her nighttime slumber with FM on the bed! I never know who is up there with me and I feel around and if I feel soft curls I know it is my Cady girl : )
Enjoy the new pictures.

Little help please....... :)

Cady and foster sister, Penny Rose

Cadence, Charlie 09-226 and Penny Rose
Miss Cady is doing well these days. In regards to her seizures, she went 3 1/2 weeks seizure free and then had two in two days. They are far less severe and she did not even seize, but rather she "paddled" while laying down and was blind, but only for a short time. We are so used to her episodes, we just pet her and all is well. Other than her seizures, she is just a love bug. She does have an independent streak. She is not your typical velcro GR, but she will just find a place to lay down and it does not necessarily have to be near her people. She will stay resting while I run around the house doing chores, versus the other furr butts who follow me everywhere! Cady has the most adorable little face and those ears....oh, they are like velvet!
Enjoy the new pictures of Cady walking on the pool tarp. Who says a Golden can't walk on water! Haha

Cady Rae checking in. Well, there is not a lot of new things to report on little old me. My seizures are less severe and the last one I had was about 2 1/2 weeks ago, well, that's what FM tells me anyway. I am unaware that they are happening, so she clues me in afterward what went on. FM loves me even though I have seizures. It's probably because I am just so adorable.
I am enjoying the summer here at foster camp. FD is home with us furr children all day, so we keep busy. Well, don't tell FM, but we do watch a lot of golf, baseball, car racing and any other sport that FD can find on ESPN. Oh boy, now FD will get in trouble cause I told on him. He makes up for it by walking us and playing with us outside. He does not let us swim a lot, that's FM's job. She enjoys watching us in the pool and throwing the tennis balls for me to retrieve. I love to swim and do my laps around the pool. I am so smart and figured out how to get out of the pool the first time I went in.
We have had quite the assortment of new fosters here at foster camp. All males under one year old! They want to play with me, but I just do not like them. I snarl and chase them away. I also make a loud noise like a grizzly bear, that'll show 'em! Stay away from me you little youngens! They all get adopted fast, so I don't have to put up with it for very long, but then I turn around and there is another one! What is wrong with FM, she just loves those dogs!
Well, I better go now, I think it is time for my evening walk and then my evening snack - probably a boring banana again, bleh...

In the past 6 months, we have had fosters come and go, but one special girl is still with us. That special Golden girl is Cady! The neighbor kids love all of our fosters, but when Cady comes outside, the kids come running. I hear them yelling "Cady, Cady, Cady," "Hey, everyone, Cady is outside!" "Oh, Cady, you are so sweet and pretty." The kids just love her. So I thought it appropriate to put her biggest fans on her webpage. Enjoy the pictures, Cady sure had fun posing with them!

Cady and her Three Biggest Fans!!!!
Well, another day at foster camp and it was a good one! A couple of walks with foster sis and my new friend Bucko, good food, a treat or two, sitting on the deck, cuddling with foster sis and now resting on the cool tile floor. What a life! There is not much new in my world. Oh yeah, FM said that I had a seizure a couple of weeks ago and FD told FM that he thought I had one today but he was wrong. I was just panting because I had just been outside and he mistakenly thought I was panting from a seizure. He forgot that I usually have them at night anyway. FM went through the other symptoms and I had none of those, so FD was wrong. FM loves to say that!
I have to tell you about a new friend I have. His name is Bucko and he is a Carrey Blue Terrier (I may have spelled that wrong, but you know what I mean). We walk every night, the three of us (Penny Rose comes too) and two humans included. I am always the leader and I just stroll along while those other two furr butts are marking everything from the mail boxes to every tree in the neighborhood. I probably never told you, but I do not potty on a leash, nope, never! I know, it is weird, but someone must have taught me not to potty on a leash. The minute we come home from a walk, I go to the patio door so I can do MY business in private : )
That is all the news I have to report on little ole me - Miss Cady girl. FM took some more pictures - yawn - she is always snapping that camera. You would think that she thought I was beautiful or something - HA!
Until next time & thanks for checking my web page : )

Foster Sissy Makes a Good Pillow :)

I Love, Love, Love My Frosty Paws!!!
A herd of cows couldn't keep Cady Mae away from the RAGOM picnic! She will be there with bells on! Well, not really, but you know what we mean! Come and say hi to this special girl, she loves ALOT of attention!
Little Miss Cadence loves hanging out with her foster family. She gets 3 walks totaling 6 miles a day! This girl loves and needs her exercise - yes, even in the rain, we go every day. You see, the medication she is on for her seizures makes her edgy and without exercise, she is like a 3 year old with ADD - That would be attention deficet syndrome : ( We understand Cady, so when she paces and barks, she is either hungry, thirsty, has to go potty, or just plain wants to make noise! If she does not "need" anything, I typically put her is a quiet room and she literally passes out! She just has trouble shutting down sometimes. Just imagine if she did not get her exercise!
Cady LOVES her baths, but after the RAGOM picnic I put her in the shower with me. She loved it and it was so much easier than breaking my back giving her a bath. Showers for this girl from now on! Speaking of the RAGOM picnic, Cady had a good time, but she was a little stressed. When we got home she had a seizure. She gets stressed easily, but I just think she needs to get out a "live a little!" Her seizures are about every 10 - 14 days now. I think we have seen every form of seizure for her. Meaning that sometimes she convulses, sometimes she just goes blind, sometimes she will lay and paddle her feet and sometimes she does all three. We have been through it so much that other than feeling bad for the girl, we are not phased. We just keep her safe and let her go through the process.
Smooches to her sponsor!!! Cady's monthly meds cost around $110, so if you are thinking about sponsoring a dog, Cady is your girl. Well, there are a lot of RAGOM dogs that need help, so if you can help at all, your generosity is greatly appreciated, no matter which wonderful furr butt you choose!
Cadence was so lucky to have been able to go to the RAGOM event last weekend. Thank you Susan for bringing her there! She was in charge of collecting donations and she also scored some treats! Cady had the opportunity to do some agility exercises, which Susan said she did great at. She was exhausted when she got home and slept for hours!
Cady's medical condition has not changed in regards to her seizures. She typically has a seizure every 10 - 14 days or so. Some more severe than others, we just make sure she is safe when this is happening. Cady still gets a few walks per day and typically walks for 4 - 6 miles. She loves her walks and it helps settle her down. The medication she is on for her siezures makes her "edgy and nervous," so she definetly needs her exercise.
We are enjoying our new foster today, Stella 09.471. Cady is less than thrilled because she has to share her foster mom with another furr butt, but she gets over it eventually.
Cady sends kisses and hugs to her sponsors. Their help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for reading up on Cady Rae.

Cady told me that she is flattered for having so many people and furr kids that LOVE her! She sends big kisses and holiday hugs!!!
The Royal Princess Cadence Ann has directed her Royal Staff that she must thank yet another admirer. Cady has informed us that she is forever grateful to all of her supporters and is thrilled and honored to have yet another fan, BranDee 08-465. She has requested her Royal Staff to send kisses and hugs to BranDee for her generosity of the donation in honor of Cady. At the moment, Cady is enjoying a bubble bath and eating bon-bons just like Royalty should do. Later while she gives us peasants orders, we will try to walk her through the doorway, her head has gotten a little large for her body : ) Until then, she wears her Royal Crown and barks out orders to the hired help : )
Sincerely,
Cadence's Royal Staff
Well I made it through the holidays and survived! All of the shopping and cooking just wore me out! Santa was very good to me and I got everything I wanted this year. Well, I didn't ask for another sister, but Mom decided that Stella 09.471 is staying - bleck. She is a puppy and Mom knows how I feel about puppies. They are annoying and irritating, but Mom says she thinks that she is adorable and wants to keep her, whatever.
I have really enjoyed the fresh snow and I love to run around and eat it! It is really good exercise for me because I think I have some winter weight on me. Mom tells me that I am a little chubby, but I am so hungry all of the time from my medications, I just can't help but to ask for snacks all of the time. I usually get apples, bananas or carrots and that is not too exciting, but I know that I am eating healthy and that makes Mom happy.
What I really wanted to write about today was to let Danielle know that I absolutely LOVE her! You see, Danielle is a fellow epileptic and gave me a holiday gift and is on my website. Danielle knows what it is like to have a seizure and although I don't remember them I still would rather be playing than having them. So thank you Danielle from the bottom of my heart! I love you so much for thinking of me : )
Sending hugs and kisses to all of my fans - and I know there are A LOT of them!!!
Cady is loving the snow! She plows through it and scoops it up in her mouth! She is a funny girl. Cady's seizures are still about every 10 - 14 days. They have changed some and the last one she had she was walking around and about every fourth step she would twitch. I will take that kind of seizure over her typical ones she has. Cady still loves, loves, loves her walks. She cannot contain herself when I open up the closet and get my coat out! She turns into a jumping bean!
I have attached a couple of silly pictures of Cady - sorry they are kind of fuzzy, she was not moving at all, so it is most likely the photographers fault! When I got up yesterday, I saw that she was laying on the cedar chest with her legs straight out. We have about 10 dogs beds in the house, but this is the spot she chose to sleep on that night. Pretty funny!
Cady sends kisses to her fans : )

Cady is very anxious for spring to arrive. She does love the snow and her winter walks, but would like to just walk into her home without getting her feet wiped off! There is no longer someone home all day with Cady and she does just fine. She really likes resting on the tile floor, so her and Stella Grace (09.471) stay in the office during the work day. Today foster mom came home to open mail and the health insurance cards chewed up! Cady was not guilty of doing the chewing, she was pointing her paw at Stella! Now if foster mom left the closet door open, Cady would definitely have her head in the food!
Thanks for reading up on Cady. She is laying next to me on the bed as I write this. Her head is rested on my arm...she is such a sweet girl...
It is time to check in with all of my fans! I told Mom to send an old picture of me and my friend Patty (former foster dog of whom we all adored. She has an awesome life now : ). We are “sharing” a treat (probably a little ice cream, yummy : ) Anyway, things have changed for me somewhat in that I have not had a seizure in…drum roll…6 weeks! Well, don’t get too excited because the Dr. increased my meds and my blood counts came back and they are too high, so we are in the process of lowering the meds. So far no seizures though YAY!
Other updates on me – I am patiently waiting for that tarp to come off of the pool, I am getting along better with recently adopted Stella Grace 09.471. She is a pilly willy sometimes, but she is a baby and is still learning, so I will be patient.
I am so excited because we are having some visitors this weekend! Another volunteer, Kelly, and her Mom are coming to visit us! Kelly is so excited because she fostered Harley, who also had seizures and so she feels a connection with me. How sweet is that : ) Mom told me last night that all three furr butts will be getting a bath before Saturday. I told her that we just had our Easter baths and Mom said this is a special day and we all need to be squeaky clean and smelling wonderful! Mom can be so silly sometimes, she is pretty picky about the way we look, lucky for us : )
Sending all of my fans doggie kisses!

Cadence is now fostered in Mound, Mn. Cady arrived at her new home on Sunday, May 23. She loves her new house! She shares a small house on Lake Minnetonka with 5 other furry friends: the evil cats! Somehow, they always seem to get under her feet and trip her! They were very cautious about Cady but she didn’t mind at all. She loves the yard but even more so the lake! Her first adventure was to go swimming at the swimming beach! She wanted to go out to the deep water but mom wasn’t dressed to go swimming! So much excitement the first day! She did have a seizure that evening while laying on the couch (for some reason she thinks she is a person).
Day 2:
Well, Cady had another seizure last night but doing well tonight. I figure the excitement of yesterday (and the heat in my house) contributed. Today she went swimming! There were kids at the beach and of course they loved her up! She was in 7th heaven! She had a ball and loved that! She adores me so I think I am her new mom! She is sacked out on the couch at the moment. None of us slept very well last night but it was the first night! She is such a doll and everyone loves her! And she is SO curly! Oh yeah…she fetched a fish for me!! Oh joy!! LOL! She is an adorable dog...and if she didn't have seizures, everyone would want her. The seizures are not good but the good parts definitely outweigh the bad!!
Now I have seen everything!! Last night, I went hot tubbing...with Cady. And she jumped in with me! I could not get her out. She was SO relaxed and happy...even in the heat! What a silly dog! I definitely think she and I have bonded...if for no other reason than she is an only dog! The cats are slowly but surely adjusting as Cady pays NO attention to them! A couple kids would love to walk Cady and that would be wonderful! She is such a happy camper here!!
Day 3:
Early this morning, Cady had 2 seizures back to back. She is going to the vet today to see if her medications can be adjusted better so these will happen less frequently. When I went to work today, Cady was sound asleep in the bathtub…her favorite place!
Day 4:
Cady had yet another seizure early this morning. But she is always fine afterwards! She was first in line for breakfast but I made her wait her turn! She follows me everywhere! She is definitely a Velcro dog! She wanted to come to work with me! Tonight she is going to help me put the boats in the lake and I am sure she will have a great time!
I wonder what she does when I am gone during the day….hmmm…..
Cady here! My new mom is so silly! She worries so much about my seizures but I don’t even remember them! I am always happy! The best part of my new home is swimming in the lake! I love to chase my ball and swim in circles….and it feels so good on my body when it is SO hot outside! And I love to confuse the evil cats. It is SO easy! When their backs are turned, I quietly sneak in and steal their food – it is SO much better than MY food. I have found all places to be in the new house. The bathrooms are my favorite places…and also the couch. The couch is just right….it is perfect for me…I take up the whole space! Sometimes I sleep in the bathtub because it is so cool in there and other times I love to sleep right next to my mom. Mom told me that we would be putting the boats in the lake tonight. I am SO excited to go for a boat ride! I love all kinds of rides! But I have never been on a boat ride…I bet it is pretty neat! Well, time for my afternoon nap so I am ready to do all this work tonight. I even heard there will be children coming…I LOVE CHILDREN!!
(yawn) I wonder what my mom does all day when I am sleeping….hmmm…..

Cady is a wonderful little girl! I have had many dogs but she is THE best one I have ever had! Cady is a sweet little girl…who LOVES to have fun! She gets along well with my kitties and with other dogs. She wants so badly to play with the cats…when they run…she chases…but only in play! She is gentle with everyone…especially children! Her seizures have decreased greatly…they were probably due to the change in environment. But within a few days she settled in just fine.
When I get home after work, I often find Cady on my bed…the silly girl! She is SO happy to see me! She jumps and runs! She is just a typical Golden Retriever! She loves to jump in the bathtub and drink the water coming out of the faucet. And she adores the lake! Sometimes when I go to bed, she has to jump up onto the bed and just cuddle with me. She won’t leave unless I give her a great big hug! She is THE most loving dog I have ever had…and she loves everyone! And she loves me just as much as I love her
Regarding the seizures: I know it sounds like a lot to take on. But her seizures will go down when she adjusts to her new environment. It has been days since she has had one. She does not suffer when she has one. I guess it is just who Cady is!! But I have never met a more delightful and loving dog than Cady! The good part of Cady clearly outweighs those seizures…and that is all that is bad!! She is an awesome dog…everyone’s dream dog!
If you want a dog who is good with other animals and children, Cady is the little girl you want! She is young and vibrant! She loves everyone in her life and she finds a joie de vivre that few other dogs have! Nothing in life comes easy – nothing is perfect. And neither is Cady! But she has so much more good than bad that she is definitely worth a try! You know exactly what you are going to get when you adopt her…..she is great!! She will be the love of your life!!
Cady here! I LOVE my new life on the lake! I love to swim and fetch my ball in the lake!! But more than that, I LOVE to play with the kitties! When mom is away, I snuggle up in her bed…smelling her smell….just waiting for her to return and to give her a huge, sloppy kiss!! I love children and ALL animals and I love to play!! My seizures are not very bad anymore since my meds were adjusted. I LOVE to chew on bones…..they taste SO good!! I am looking forward to this weekend when I can swim all I want…and maybe, just maybe, go for a boat ride!!! And then next week I get to visit my previous foster mom for a week…will be so much fun to see all my old friends and swim in the pool! But I know I will love to go back to my mom who lives on the lake. I am the ONLY dog and I feel so special with her…even though I have to fight my way to the bed with those evil cats!! They are SO much fun to chase but they know I am only playing …and they love me already!! But, boy, I would LOVE to eat THEIR food! It is so much better than dog food!! YUMMMY!!

Cady drinking her water in the bathtub!
Cady has been doing very well! She has had only a few seizures and not too severe. She and the cats are getting along great!! She loves to go swimming and I just got her a life jacket so I don't have to worry about her in deep water. So now she can float and doesn't get tired...she absolutely loves it! Right now she is laying on the couch chewing on her bone. She had a big day today. First she slept in while I went to church and then when i went golfing. But then she went with me to a graduation party where everyone doted on her! She got a little snack and then we went to Chuck and Don's to see if we could find food she would eat...and success!! We found something to fill her tummy!I Tomorrow she gets to visit her friend Muffy Bear...she will have so much fun with Muffy!! Muffy does get a little crazy though..she is only one year old but adores Cady. Then since I will be traveling for work, Cady is going back to her previous foster mommy...and I am sure she will have a lot of fun with the other dogs and the swimming pool!! She is simply a sweetheart!
Cady here!
Life is SO good!! I got so many wonderful treats today...and I got to go swimming! And I had a special trip to go to a party where everyone could see how beautiful I was!! I love riding in the car and then we went to the pet store and I got to smell all the good things in there...I didn't want to leave! But I knew mommy bought me some good things...and I just couldn't wait to try them out! When we got home, she took me swimming..I LOVE to swim! And then I came in and had my blueberry yogurt doggie treat. I didn't like it when it was frozen but once it melted a little, I ate it ALL up! Now my tummy is full and I am so happy sitting on my mommy's lap. She loves me SO much (even when I stink)! Sometimes I like to give her wet sloppy doggie kisses...she is not so sure about those but doesn't matter cuz I LOVE to give them! And tomorrow I get to visit my friend Muffy! She is a one year old golden retriever who likes to get into lots of trouble. She likes to steal my bones but I won't let HER boss me around...I am the mature woman here! And I am so excited about going back to my previous foster mom for a long visit...I am SO excited!! Going to be a great next few days! And I get to go swimming in the pool!! Hope mommy brings my life jacket with me...then I can stay in there for a long time!! Woof! Woof!

Well, my mom had to go on a business trip for over a week...so I got to go on vacation!! I went back to my previous foster mom...she has a swimming pool and 2 other doggies...so it was so nice to return home!! I had a great time...I got to go to my mom's son's graduation party! So many people...so much attention!! It was a great vacation ...swimming in the pool every day...lots of bones to chew on......but I did miss my new mom a lot. When she came to pick me up, I just about jumped out of my fur with excitement! I could hardly contain myself!! I jumped all over her! I had a great time on vacation but was so happy to go home. And I have not had a seizure in almost 2 weeks now!! Now I am home and I can chase the cats again....LOL! They run...I chase! And when they are not looking, I play with their cat bed! Here is a video of me playing with the cat bed!! But...shhhh....they don't know that I do that. Really hope mom gets me some more fresh bones tomorrow...or maybe a pig's ear again....MMMMMMM!!! Woof! Woof!

My life has been so crazy lately! Sorry I have not updated my life but honestly I have been much too busy swimming, playing with other doggies, and going on vacation!
In early July, my mom started babysitting a new dog. He is a Vizsla dog. They come from Romania and are considered Vampire dogs because of their red eyes (at least that is why I think they call them vampire dogs). Well, he has more energy than every golden retriever I have ever known! He NEVER stops! But we have SO much fun together! We run around the yard, go swimming together (but he doesn’t know how to swim LOL) , and play tug of war by the hour. But I never let him win!! We have ripped apart all of his stuffed animals so far. Mom had to go on a business trip and to a family reunion, so I went on vacation to my previous foster mommy. It was so much fun to reunite with my old friends and to see my mommy’s new house – it is very spacious and great for doggies! We had a nice fenced yard and I could get away from the other dogs if I wanted. Mommy was gone for TWO weeks! I had a great time but I really did miss Rocky and my mom. I was so excited when she came to pick me up late last night! I could hardly sleep all night! And Rocky wouldn’t let me sleep anyway. When I got home last night, I jumped on the couch just like before…here is a picture for you to see how wonderful it was!
Now for the good news! My mommy has thought about it for a long time now and even though I have seizures, she just doesn’t think she can live without me! And I don’t think I can live without her! I was so happy with my other foster mommy….but I really missed my new mommy! I like being an “only” doggie…even though I enjoy Rocky so much! I sat by mom all day when I could and gave her doggie kisses!! So my mommy is going to adopt me!! Yeah!!
Oh yeah! I forgot to tell you how silly my mommy is! She conned me into getting into the kayak. She PROMISED that it would not tip over. I got into the seat...and took the whole space...why not?? And when she tried to get in, she made the whole kayak turn upside down! I went in face first! No more kayaking for me! At least not till mommy can figure out how to not tip the kayak over. Tomorrow she has promised to take me sailing...oh yeah!!
