Please welcome Lucy IA!! She was a stray found out in the country. Pretty sure she was dumped as no one has contacted the local humane society to claim her. She is a compact little girl of about 40 pounds and the vet thinks she is maybe 2-3 years old. From the neck back she is all golden but the face and her small size show she is a mix of something small. She was a real hit with the vet office staff!!

She currently has several abrasions on her face that, of course, we do not know how she got and an ear infection which makes her walk with her head tilted. She is on antibiotics and the sores seem to be healing and the ear is looking better already.

She is a doll!!! She gets along with dogs ok but her main goal in life is to be with her human. She is a shadow that will follow you everywhere. She loves to sit in my lap and if the other dogs look her way or come toward her while she is on my lap, she will growl. We are working on that. I think she would be great as the only dog and needs someone that wants a lap dog to cuddle with and who likes doggy kisses. The vet said she really showed no interest in the cats at the office so I THINK she would be fine with them.

She spent the last couple nights in the kennel and did fine. There was a little whining but that stopped very quickly. I believe she would be fine out of a kennel but with 2 other dogs in the house I didn't want to take the chance of a midnight squabble over floor space.

If you are looking for a smaller dog with the look and great personality of a Golden, this is your girl!!! Please contact placement@ragom.org as I know she will go quickly!!

UPDATES:
09/30/2008:

Hey everyone, Lucy here! I saw FM doing this computer thing and it didn't seem hard to me, so I am doing my own update.

Things are going great!! One bad thing was that I had to go to the vet today. First he shaved my belly to make sure that I cannot have babies and said that there is a scar right where it should be. Man, I could have told him that but nobody asked me. Then he looked at the cuts by my eyes. He didn't like the way that they were healing because my hair was in the scabs so what did he do? Shave them and pulled the scabs off!!! Well, hellooooooo... that didn't feel good at all! But as you can see I have some pretty nasty cuts going on. I am keeping how I got them a secret! I think they will really heal fast now. Then he checked my ears. He said they were looking really good but FM & FD still have to put medicine in them for a while longer.....just to make sure.

I sent some other pics too. One is with my foster sister, Bailey. She ROCKS!! I get to go on walks with her and I love to do everything that she does. She gets really ticked when I watch her "piddle" and then I go on top of hers!!!! And if she is sniffing something, I push my way right in so I can have a whiff of it too. You can see by the picture that I am much smaller than she is and FM says that I am a "spit fire". I hope that is good.....

The last picture shows my beautiful Golden Body. FM says I have the wrong head but I think it works!!! Gives me character!! She thinks my nickname should be Wiggle Butt because my tail never stops wagging. Well, what can I say? I am a happy girl.

I am also ready to spend the rest of my life with someone who can give me lots of love and attention and doesn't mind me following them EVERYWHERE!! Mom says that I should probably be an only dog because I don't like to share my humans with other dogs. I love to go on walks and I am learning to walk really good. When I started I would get tangled around FM legs but she is teaching me to pick a side and stay on it!!! If you think that I might be the girl for you, please contact RAGOM right away. I am trying to be patient but I am waiting for YOU!!!

Lucy is resting after a quick walk in the rain so I thought I would send in a quick note. She is doing just great! She is an awesome dog that wants nothing more than to hang out with us. She gets along with other dogs ok but her only goal in life is to be by humans. Her tail never stops wagging!!

We are still working on the growling at other dogs if she is being petted but she quits if you give her a stern "NO". She would be an fantastic therapy dog as she loves the attention from people, doesn't show any aggression towards strangers and she is small enough to get on laps!!! Another benefit is that when I brush her I hardly get ANY hair out of her. So, whatever she is mixed with must be a non-shedding dog!! That is a plus!

Her cuts are healing up really well. Once the hair grows back you will never know she had them. The ear infection seems to be under control also. So, she is ready to go to her adoptive family.

Again, I think she needs to be where she is the only dog. She doesn't mind cats but I don't know if she would have the same growling issues if they tried to butt in on her "human time".

She has the Golden qualities, only in a smaller package and less shedding. She loves to cuddle, sit on laps and keep you company in bed.

I don't know about small children as I have not had her around any. She is fine with older kids. She doesn't really show any interest in playing with toys and balls but she does get really silly and run around like a crazy woman when she gets excited.

She loves to go on walks and will not leave your side. No pulling or chasing things. She trots along next to you and looks up every so often to make sure you are still there and get affirmation that she is doing a good job.

So, if you are looking for a companion that will love and adore you, this might be your girl. Please contact RAGOM if you are interested in meeting Lucy! Someone is going to be very lucky to get this little "peanut"!!!

10/16/2008:

Hi everyone...Lucy here! Just wanted to let you all know that I am here and still waiting for my forever family!

Things are going good here. Ok, well I have had a couple scraps with my foster brother but I am not one to be pushed around! I may be small but in my mind I am the size of a great dane!! Mom says it would be best for me to be the only dog in the house because I don't like to share the attention. Well, with a cute face like this, I should get ALL the attention. Right?

Wow, I was on TV yesterday with Hope and Junior! That was quite an experience. All the lights and people were really cool. I had to jump up on mom's lap so the camera could get a good look at me!! The lady talked about RAGOM and all the dogs that are looking for good homes. I sure hope it gets people to check out our stories and fall in love with us!!

Sorry there are not more pics of me but FM has a hard time getting any because if she gets up to get the camera (or anything else) I have to be right by her. She says it is hard to take a picture that doesn't have her feet in it. But maybe one of these days I will be still long enough to let her do it. We'll see!

Well, gotta run. Please contact RAGOM and they can hook you up with FM and she can tell you all the reasons you need to make me part of your family. I can promise you that I will be a great companion who wants nothing more than to be close to you and give you lots of love and kisses!!

Talk to you again soon.

Come on, it's time for bed!

10/28/2008:

Hi all!! Lucy Lu here! Wow, what a night. I got to go with FM to a home visit and I was on my best behavior the whole time. It was a very nice lady and her really cute 6 year old son. I guess there is also a 3 year old but I didn't get to meet her as she was sleeping.

Things are going good here. I just hang out and go on walks with my foster brother and sister. I have been getting along pretty good with them......I try. But I just don't like to see anybody else get attention. If I do, I have to push my way to the front. It is all about me!

If you are someone who has room in their life for a cute little girl who will shower you with love and affection, I am your girl. I will show you devotion you won't believe. I will be at your feet with my tail wagging or sitting on your lap giving you crazy kisses (if you will let me). What I really love is to be in bed with you!! And if you want a small package to travel with, I am totally there! I love to ride in the car and watch out the windows. I would love to ride in your lap but FM says THAT is not allowed so I just stand with my feet on the seat divider. I love to go on walks and play in the leaves. Don't I sound just perrrrrrfect?

Please contact RAGOM if you would like to learn more about me from my FM. She has the scoop! TTFN

I am looking for my family!
Come on, I know you are out there!!

Lucy Lu now has her very own video! Click here to watch it.

11/16/2008:

Just a quick up date on Lucy. She is doing very well. We had a houseful of company this weekend and she did great. She was very sweet with my 9 month old grandson and his sister who is 7. We also had our "grand dog" Charlie and although there was some growling on Lucy's part a few quick pulls on her collar and telling her no soon stopped the behavior. We kept our eye on her and corrected her as soon as we saw her tensing up and by the end of the weekend, she was sleeping next to him on the couch.

Lucy is a dog with alot of love to give but just needs someone who will accept her with her issues and be willing to work on them. She truly wants to please her owner and no one can know what this little girl had to endure in her past to make her so untrusting of other dogs.... maybe SHE was on the receiving end of abuse before and had to learn how to fight to survive. But with love and patience she is going to make someone very thankful they gave her a chance. You won't find another dog with more love for her human than this little squirt!!! If you think this little girl is for you, please contact RAGOM and we can talk.

11/29/2008:

Happy, happy day!!  Today I went home with my forever family and they ROCK!!!  Look at us....have you ever seen a better looking family? I don't have any fur brothers or sisters to compete with so life will be sweeeet!  They know how I can be about other dogs (I promised foster mom I would try to get along with the dogs I meet) and they said they would help me work on my manners.  You should see all the new things they bought me to make me feel at home......they are some very special people.  So, thanks to everyone that followed my updates and know that I am in a good place with great people who love me!!!  ttfn

From foster mom:

I could not be more happy with the new family that Lucy has found.  They fell in love with her right away and she has a great life ahead of her.  I will miss you Lucy.  We had our ups and downs but you were always my little shadow and I already miss the company doing laundry, making the bed (because you always thought you helped me by jumping on it) and laying by my feet while I was on the computer.  You are a special girl and you wiggled your way into our hearts.  That little golden with the funny little face.  Enjoy your life Lucy Lu and know that we love you and you forever hold a special place in our hearts.

01/28/2009:

Hello, Everyone!

Lucy has been an absolute joy! We have been a family for 8 weeks, and each day we are more thankful for our silly little girl! She is our shadow – wanting desperately to be an active part of everything we do. She has met many new people friends – and still prefers to shadow her mommy and daddy. In just a short time, she has learned sit, down, and shake – and she has adjusted to the Minnesota cold without a hitch. In fact, we can’t keep her from frolicking and eating the white powder outside. Why scoop your sidewalks when your golden prefers to eat her way through! Lucy’s favorite treat is organic carrots, and she loves travelling in the backseat of our SUV. The good Lord has blessed us with a wonderful friend in Lucy Girl, and we cannot be more grateful that she is an every day part of our lives!
