Goose
Goose #08-519
(Fostered in Askov, MN)

Sponsored by: Judith Cummings

Goose has made the long trip from Iowa to Minnesota and the start of his GOLDEN life. His owners lost their home and surrendered him to Ragom.  Goose does have a rather strange name but I believe it is fitting.  He is so "silly".

He is an older mature fellow of 10 years with a distinguished looking face. He is a bit chunky at 91 pounds and looks as wide as he is long. He has untreated hypothyroidism which adds to his girth. Goose's ears are badly infected and may have been for an extended period of time. Sometimes I wonder how well he is able to hear. To add to his challenges he also has a yeast infection of the skin leaving him with thin coat, balding and exceptionally dry skin that appears leathery. He also itches and we have started meds to help control the discomfort. Through all of this he is sweet and dear. Truly a Velcro boy that enjoys his human folks.

Goose will be monitored by our local vet as we start thyroxine for his thyroid, continue to treat his ear infections, and work to resolve his skin condition. We are choosing to place him on a hypoallergenic diet.  Goose also has had two lumpectomies and we are hopeful the results will be negative. Keep following this sweet boy as we strive to return him to good health!

UPDATES:
11/08/2008:

SG here.  Silly Goose for those of you new to my page.  Thought I should type this update.  Now about the picture...they, Foster Mom and fur bro Kodi, are making me wear this orange vest thing.  All the nonsense started this morning.  I wanted to skip the outfit idea because it clashes with my coat and does not match my collar but they wouldn't listen.  It is the opening of deer season and the concern was I might look like a deer...you gotta be kidding!  Too short and too wide for a deer!  Anyway I am following orders like a good guy.

I went to the vet yesterday to have my sutures removed. The site on my side looks good but my leg needed some more time to heal.  I pulled out my stitches, sneaky huh? Well, now it is bandaged again cuz it looks so raw. I will leave it alone this time, promise. My skin around my right eye was swollen and red, so have some meds for that, had a scraping of my skin for a analysis.  No yeast infection on my belly!  Yay!  I am being a exceptionally good boy.  Pottying outside, trying to learn what the humans mean when they talk, and kind to everyone. I don't mind if you want some of my food when I am eating, no growling from me. Share with fur bro if he wants, don't snoop on the counters, sleep on the floor, and try to listen when people tell me something.  My FM said I don't know many commands so I am working on that. The old dog new trick thing, I guess.

Well, that is all the news from here..
SG

11/12/2008:
It is a good day...very good day! Goose's lumpectomies were negative. The result was a benign hemangioma an inflammatory tissue. Goose is jumping for joy....well, he always does that. We have a bare inch of snow, but Goose took advantage of it by rolling around the yard and scooting down the hill. Makes me wish for more just to watch his antics!

Duck, duck, duck, Goo...No...Chick, chick, Goose!

I love my bone!

11/29/2008:

Goosie checking in... My foster Mom said my picture was on the pet page of WCCO.  She said I'm  famous.  Ah, shucks I am just the same old Goosie, but if you want a pawgraph just let me know!  I am getting better each day.  I have lost 6 pounds already.  That is from good food, in the right amount, and my thyroid meds.  I am loosing hair on my ears and my coat is still very dry and flaky.  It will take some time for me to become my beautiful self again. Did I tell you I like kids?  The kids in the picture are my Foster Mom's nephews, human kind.  Guess you could tell that! I take treats very gently when they are offered.  I also like to play fetch, but don't always like giving up the ball or toy. I am learning commands...Now the truth maybe that I knew them but was just testing the humans to see if they knew them.  They do!  I also dance a cute little dance, no music needed.  Like to have a partner my stuffed cow will do. Foster Mom thinks it is silly, except when I try it at 4:00AM then not humorous..!

12/12/2008:

Just me Goosie checking in during the holiday season. Thought I would dress up for my picture. Do I look like Rudolph? Guess the red nose would help.

I am off all my meds! I don't have a thyroid problem....according to my vet and the wise DVM at the University of Michigan. We did a full thyroid panel and sent it off to them for analysis. He must be very wise cuz he had all these letters after his name....like DVM PHD. He said not a thyroid issue....so now we have to wait a little for the meds to leave my body and start over to discover the cause. I did have a complete blood panel and it looked pretty good. Slightly elevated liver enzyme. I remain active, eat well, drink lots, which means I also...ah go out lots. I love to ride in the car even to the vet office. I am a happy boy.

We are expecting more snow and I can hardly wait! Rolling, eating, sniffing, playing, jumping and scooting down the hill...I love snow! My FM said she could teach me to shovel...that would even be fun....what is a shovel? Keep good thoughts about me and hopefully they will discover what causes my health issues.

12/20/2008:
I am ready!  Told foster Mom I was going out to the deck to wait for the big storm.  Have my new boots on and my nose in the air waiting for that first flake...wait I think I saw one! I really like snow, guess I've said that before. Snow angels are one of my favorite activities.  My feet hurt so I have an early gift, boots!  Actually I have four of them but only put on two for snow patrol this morning.  So stay warm, watch a good movie ( I'm voting for Air Bud) make popcorn and snuggle!  Just a quick note to Orphan Annie....Keep moving forward, Annie.  Lots of fur friends and humans are thinking and praying for you.  Maybe we will meet some day.  High paw to you!

Foster Mom here....  Goose is doing well. We are waiting to test him further and Cushing's Disease is a possibility.  I have returned to my position at the school, after a  leave, and wondered how Goose would adjust. He has needed frequent potty trips. I am confining him and, resident dog Kodi, to a tiled area and watching water consumption.  He respects the barrier I set and no accidents. Goose does tell you when he needs something...does this silly little dance on two feet!  It means one of four things... need to go out, water bowl empty, time to eat, or play with me.

So handsome!

01/04/2009:
Belated Happy New Year!  I am looking forward to 2009.  I am sure the new year will include a new forever family for me!  I will be going to the vet this week to have some blood work.  It is OK...I wait without moving as they take blood or exam me...my foster Mom says I am the very best boy at the vet! We are trying to figure out why I have lost fur and my skin is flaky.  Actually I am now growing new hair on my belly!  It was completely bare! The vet thinks I was rubbing my tummy on concrete....I am not telling just letting them figure it out.  So I will check in again when we have more info about my health.  Take care, stay warm, and snuggle with a fur friend!

Goosie

P.S. Goose and I plan to attend the Chuck and Don's event at Forest Lake on Saturday!

01/11/2009:

Me SG (Silly Goose) checking in to say "hey" and tell about my day. It started with an email saying I have a sponsor. How great is that! So, thanks to Judith for loving me and helping with my medical bills! I go to the vet on Monday for a check up.

After that good news we took a trip to Chuck and Don's pet food store in Forest Lake. I met lots of people and other RAGOM dogs. It was a fun day and I was just my sweet relaxed self. Foster Mom kept saying I am quiet in the house but watch me outside...running, jumping and playing fetch...I'm not sure anyone believed her! She took some pictures of me to send with this update and then left her camera at the store.....I really need to keep better tract of her!

That is all the news from here....I need a nap after my busy day! Just a quick note to my sponsor, Judith...if you are ever in Askov...OK , not many people are....if you ever go up 35 toward Duluth give a whistle and I will get FM to take us for lunch!

Love,
Goosie

01/18/2009: I love snow...fluffy, crisp, cold and oh so fun! Finally a day to play outside! SG here. Sending a few pictures of my time in the flakes with bro and FM.  Little fetch and little tussle and roll..snow is grand. I am doing very well.  My senior lab profile came back looking very good...just waiting for my T3-T4. Couple more tests after that and keeping your paws crossed I am ready to look for a forever home!
Love to all, especially Judith my sponsor...
Goosie

Just relaxing on a Sunday afternoon

Fetch anyone?

See how handsome a profile I have!

01/21/2009:

Just a quick update....I went back to see my vet yesterday for a retake on my T3-T4 blood draw.  Something happened to the sample that was sent to the University of Michigan for testing. It was OK because I always like seeing my friends at the vet clinic.  Now we need to wait another week for the results. Patience, patience, I am really pretty good at that most of the time.
Enjoy the warmer weather...
SG

01/29/2009:

Is it Spring, yet? Guess once you get above zero in the north it feels like Spring! Results came back from Goosie's new T-3-T-4 lab. He does not have thyroid problems. Good news! Now we just need to figure out why the skin issues! Goose continues to be the silly fun boy.... Loves his toys and bones, housetrained, and such a happy guy, even at 5:30 AM. He does need to lose weight and we now can begin to figure this out. It was not our main concern when he came in a few months ago. He is on a hypoallergenic diet, however, it is is high in calories. His ears are healed and his hair continues to grown back on his belly. He looks so much better than when he first arrived....thanks to RAGOM and his sponsor Judith!

02/07/2009:
It is "Walk Your Dog Day"...bet you didn't know that little fact?  Ok, I made it up...Goosie here.  I just wanted all the other dogs in Ragom to go for a walk today!  I just returned from my walk and it is actually warm enough so your paws don't freeze to the ground if you stand still for two minutes!  It is 37degrees in Askov.  I had a grand walk and look forward to another tomorrow.  Not much new in my life.  I am waiting for my vet to finish a care plan for me so we know what is next.  Well, that is all from my world, so enjoy "Walk Your Dog Day".
Goosie

02/21/2009:

SG checking in on this beautiful Saturday morning.... Sun is shining, it is above zero and Foster Mom is home! What more could a guy need.... I am doing well. I do go in for a removal of a lump on Monday. It is under my eye. No big deal EXCEPT no breakfast on Monday morning...how mean is that! It is my eye, so what has that got to do with breakfast, I ask you? Foster Mom said to stop complaining...so I will! I am sending along some new pictures of me. I was out looking for bunnies. Found some tracks and maybe where they hide but didn't get him. Now, it is not that I can catch them, getting little old for that trick but is sure fun to scare the hare off of them! Little Goosie, joke! So have a good weekend and I'll check in after my surgery.

SG...Silly Goose

I think he went that way...

I smell bunny!

There he goes.

02/23/2009:

Foster Mom here signing in for SG....   Rough day for Goosie. He had the lump under his eye removed this morning. It was very intact and fibrous  Our vet tried to get as much as possible but feels there is still some remaining and it may well grow back. She will send it for analysis, but feels it is just a fibrous benign growth. We are hopeful that the facial nerves have not been affected by the surgery. Goosie is home and very quiet. He did eat some dinner and is just plunked in one place, very unusual for him. He likes to shadow me. Here is a picture of the sweet boy...fur will grow back and he will be up and happy in a couple of days!

02/28/2009:
Just me Goosie greeting you on a lovely Saturday!  So what was with the temperature this morning...?  Nobody checked with me about the below zero stuff in the north woods!  It was 20 degrees below when my paws hit the snow bank. It has warmed up some and I am liking that!
The results are back from my lumpectomy...negative! Yes, that is mighty good news....not sure why but Foster Mom seems very pleased!  It was a cyst that had become infected.  So I have been taking the meds like a good guy, letting Mom first hot pack then cold pack now hot pack again!  I hated the cold pack.  Guess that was so my face didn't swell and I looked like a pumpkin head!

Have a good weekend and snuggle your own human...I will!
Goosie

03/23/2009:

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down!   Yup and today is both.  FM goes back to work on Mondays, the dog we were sitting went home and it is raining....  Well, I have to look for the positive!  It's SPRING!  Not much new in my life. Enjoy exploring the yard now that the snow has disappeared. Wow, it is amazing what you can find...soggy tennis ball, last fall's bone (flavor missing), and rabbit poop...lots of rabbit poop!  Life is good!  My face has healed pretty well. I do still have some swelling and that will take a long time to go down...it is called a seroma which is a build-up of clear bodily fluids in a place on your body where tissue has been removed by surgery. It will just absorb into my system.  Well, take care and a special high paw to my sponsor Judith!

SG

04/09/2009:

4/8/09   Page Dedicated to my friend Jess, the Lady Lab, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 4/7/09 Save a rug, and warm spot for me Jess!  I will miss you!

Goosie

Did you see my pictures?  Foster Mom gets a little nuts sometimes...bunny ears....I chase them....not look like them!  Got the darn ears caught in the basket!

I am going in for a Cushings Test on Wednesday the 16th.  No big deal, but surely hope it is not Cushings!  My weight continues to be an issue.  Vet said if Cushings comes back negative we are going to place me on thyroid meds...I am not a typical case but then I am not a typical guy! I'm a special guy!  Some dogs just baffle even the experts...not that I am trying or anything.  I'll report in on the findings from my test...paws crossed, please!

SG

Waiting for the REAL bunny!

I'm stuck....HELP!

04/18/2009:

No Cushing's disease!  What good news for Goosie!  We have started him back on thyroid meds with the hope it will help control his weight issue!  His food intake has always been very low but the weight just doesn't seem to roll off of him!  His allergies have kicked in with the spring weather and he is currently taking a med to help control the itching.  Enjoying the wonderful spring outside....snooping all around the yard and being my shadow!  Such a dear boy!

05/30/2009:

Goosie checking in....  It has been a long time since I wrote the happenings at my house.  I am really liking the spring weather!  Unfortunately with spring comes my allergies! I was just at the vet to have a blood draw so we can figure out what I am allergic to.  I know it is not my foster Mom, Kodi my fur bro...not my food, or my stuffed toys...surely not my balls!  We have tried two different meds and neither seems to help very much...so we keep trying to figure out how to make me stop the Army crawl across the yard!   I told FM it feels so-ooo good to scratch my tummy this way.  She said she was getting me fatigues and a bayonet!!!!  Whatever!  Enjoy the sunshine, I will!

Goosie

06/12/2009:

"Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day, Oh what a wonderful feeling, everything's going my way..... "

Just me Goosie say hey on this lovely morning in the north.  It is a good day....I am on prednisone for a brief time as I await the immunotherapy meds to arrive.  Dr Cox, my vet, feels it is the best option for my severe dust mite allergies.  Not sure what that is all about but FM seems to understand and said she has prior experience with "injections"...I hope it tastes like steak tartar!  She said not so!

I am looking swell...lost some pounds, coat looking better and, now with short term pred, I am not itching like a wild thing!  Life is good!  This weekend the family is coming for a visit.  I like people so this will be a great weekend...hope yours is fun too.

SG

Wet dog, but a bath feels so good.

What a good looking fella!

06/13/2009:

Goosie here, again.  The grandkids are here!  I like kids!  So have a great weekend with your kids, I will.

It's always good to have a friend!

06/30/2009:

Attention: Goosie update...Hey just me checking in on this cool Minnesota day.  I kinda like it!  Ok, Ok..forget I said that...  I am doing well.  Started my allergy injections and also taking a little steroid as we get going on this new program.  I told FM she needed to practice this injection stuff on an orange or banana or something....she said no need she knew how!  Done pretty well but then I am the "perfect" patient!  Don't move a muscle.  I have also lost about 10 pounds and am looking really handsome.  This week is the 4th...not my favorite time of year!  Guess I will hide under a blanket until all that silly noise is over!  Take care..

SG

07/22/2009:

Goosie here... Are you having a terrific summer?   I am!  Love this summer weather.  It has been cool in the north country and I really like that.  I am doing very well on my allergy injections.  The itches are so much better.  Foster Mom said she is sure my age is NOT 10 cuz I am so active.  I love to run full out around the yard, well it is really 10 acres but I don't run through the weeds and woods!  I have lost some more weight and go into the vet on Friday for a thyroid level.  Will check my weight loss also.  I look marvelous! I have some new pixs to share with you...

Love to all..

SG (Silly Goose)

The new slim me!

Catching a few rays...

Out for a morning jog.

08/04/2009:

What a day, what a day....it is so beautiful in the north woods. Helped Foster mom pick raspberries.  Ok, I watched, she picked.  Tried them but not to my liking.  Now snap peas and beans are another story!  Guess the former resident, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge, would go in the patch and pick her own!  Might try that this afternoon if FM leaves the fence open! I am good. Still some itching with my allergies but taking my shots and light dose of pred.

We had a house guest!  Cute little girl dog named Lucy came to see my vet and check out her allergies.  I so wanted to play with her but without a fence FM kept her on leash.  I told FM I would watch her and keep her close but she said no way.  Even though I am 10+ I like to run, jump, play fetch and wrestle with another dog.  FM sometimes wonders if they have my age wrong!

Enjoy the summer.  I'll eat few snap peas for you, too.

Silly Goose

Caught! Fresh Snap Peas...pass the dip!

08/25/2009:

Happy fall...break out the pumpkins, rake those leaves...Huh?  Foster Mom said it's not fall yet!  Sure seems like it to me...cool days and crisp nights, big Maple tree turning color...

I am good.  Like these cool days and lying in the grass under the big tree with my bone watching FM mow and work in the flower bed.  Crept into the garden when she wasn't looking and dipped my head into the bucket for a few snap peas...got caught but worth the risk!

Before I forget, did you mark the date on your calendar for the big RAGOM picnic?  I did, it is September 19.  I'll  be there.  Can't wait to meet new friends see all the other goldens I've read about.

Take care and stop at the RAGOM booth at the State Fair...

As Always.

SG (Silly Goose)

09/10/2009:

It is time for a Goosie update...FM is back at school so the house is pretty quiet during the day with just my furbro Kodi to keep me company.  I do have some news...I caught that wily bunny!  I was thrilled. FM was sputtering something about humane treatment of wild life.  Boy, can that woman holler..."Drop it"  "Drop it!" "Drop it!!!!!"  So I did.  The silly bunny was under the deck.  Kodi was too big to retrieve it but I wasn't so under I went. FM was still in her PJs and she sure looked silly running after me and shouting.  Good thing we live in the country!  I was just thinking  a nice stew...but it was  "no go".

All for now. Picnic next week, see ya then...

SG

10/06/2009:

Rain, rain go away and come back another day...Goosie wants to play!!! OK, I know we needed rain but enough is enough, already!  Goosie checking in on this dismal fall day.  Actually I am always happy in any kind of weather, just my golden personality I guess.  Not much new in my world.  I LOVED the Ragom picnic and am petitioning for one every month!  All those dogs and people, swimming and treats and lots of pets.  It was awesome!  I met my sponsor at the picnic!  That was so cool...  Thanks for coming to meet all your dog friends, Judith, and their people, too!  We love you!

New fall pixs coming soon!  I look great in all the leaves.  Matches my fur beautifully!

Love to all...

SG....  Silly Goose

10/29/2009:

So were Goldens made to match leaves or were leaves made to match Goldens? Kinda chicken/egg thing , I suppose.  Goosie checking in...  Still raining up my way how about your way?  FM said it could be s-n-o-w!  I would like that...she wouldn't!  All is good in my world....allergies kicking up a little so back on the injections.  I am allergic to dust and storage mites.  FM vacuums every day so where are those mites hiding, anyway!  We keep my dog food in a sealed container and that helps keep the storage mite thing under control.  Not much new on the northern front.  Do something fun for your furfriend!

Take care...

Goosie

11/16/2009:

Goosie with an update....I am fine but, the allergies are sure making me itch, scratch, itch, scratch... Hoping it will all stop soon!  Keeping up on my injections so hopefully they will solve my problem.  So, I have been waiting for some snow!  FM said "you are kidding aren't you". Nope, I'm not!  Love the white stuff!  It is so fun to roll and play in...guess I need to head out west for some old fashioned winter fun!  No more news at our house... so take care and think white stuff falling from the sky!

SG (Silly Goose)

11/29/2009:

OK, I didn't watch the game!  I took a nap instead...  I am better.  I am on pred again...just may need some at this time of year.  Steroids are not the best thing to take but I was so miserable with all the itch, scratch, itch scratch thing there was really no other good options.  Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.  I know I am thankful for the good loving care given to me by all the people at RAGOM!  Thanks also to my sponsor Judith for your support.  Well time to get out all the decorations for Christmas.  Now where did I pack away my stocking last year....I don't think I chewed it up....

My first Christmas present! I saw it at the top of my page!  How do I get it? Is it a bone,?  Stuffed toy...I love to pull all the stuffing out! Hm-mmm.....FM said it is a special gift to Ragom.  I'M OK with that!

Thanks Jerad and Holly for supporting Ragom dogs!

Love to all...

12/06/2009:

Warning....Warning....!

The white fluffy ball on the red hat is NOT a marshmallow...I know I checked it out!  It was such a disappointment!  I'll get over it....

So thanks for all the cute icons on my page...pretty fun!  Even a hat like mine with the fluffy ball! Take care and think snow...lots of it!

Sad Goosie!

12/20/2009:
Guess I could just wait here until the jolly old man comes...I am sure he will have something for me!  I have been a really good boy!  Well, most of time...sometimes I do something FM doesn't like.  Actually I can't think of anything but she probably could!

Wow! Thanks for all the donations to Ragom!  When I first came in as a rescue I sure needed some help and financial support...I did have issues as they say...health type that is...

I want to take this time to say Happy Holidays and blessing in abundance in the NEW YEAR!

Love to all,
Goosie

Waiting

01/03/2010:

Happy New Year...Ok, I'm a few days late BUT, I have a sterling excuse!  I haven't been feeling very well....FM went to the cities for a few days, to celebrate a belated Christmas.  I stayed home with fur bro Kodi and my dog sitter, Joe.  We had a great time...doing guy stuff. No I won't tell!  Anyway, when FM came home she thought I wasn't looking my Goosie self... I was limping, left-are-jet...sorry about the spelling, running a temp and just not feeling so terrific.  Off to the vet we went...!  I like my vet Dr. Deb but it was not in my game plan for New Year's day! Missed the parade!  Anyway, sounds like I have some issues.... most likely my hips, or maybe spondylosis.  So upped my pred, and taking some pain meds. We go back to the vet tomorrow.  X-rays in the AM and NO BREAKFAST! Should have some answers tomorrow night...

No BREAKFAST..is that animal cruelty?  I think it might be...  I'll starve...!  Someone send the number for the ASPCA...

The Goose...~

Nothing like a good bone on a cold inside day

01/09/2010:

Goosie greetings from the Askov Hilton....See me reclining in my bed picture....tempurpedic for sure!  Polar fleece for softness with a blue doggie motif!  Ah, yes life is good at the Hilton!  I ordered in a 20 oz T-bone but it is yet to arrive!  Whoops, Foster Mom just appeared in the computer room.....better stop while I am ahead and not press the T-bone thing.  Well, I do have a new dog bed and it is GRAND!  Thanks to Connie J for making me one.  I really do love it...! Let's see what is new...I am still doctoring with no real answers.  I like to throw FM a few curve balls just see if she is paying attention.  My temp is gone and I am not left-ar-jet...anymore.  No spondylosis, mild hip dysplasia and some arthritis.  They are just watching me to see if anything develops in the next few weeks.  Possible tummy issues.

Not much else to report so stay warm and snuggle a furry friend..dog type!

SG

Ah, the good life!

01/22/2010:

Goosie saying "Hi"... Did you see the picture?  What is wrong with this picture?  Kodi is what is wrong with this picture!!! He is on MY new bed! I had to sleep on the cold bumpy floor...  well, maybe not so very cold and I did have carpet but it wasn't my cushy snuggly bed!

I am good.  Have reports from the Doc.  I have a cyst on my kidney but that isn't supposed to be worrisome.  Also another problem, sort of personal...it is a gland located in my posterior.  You get the drift, right? Need to take a slide and send off for examination.  So that was a pretty good Dr. visit I'm thinkin.  Really don't like being away from home very well...makes me quiet and sad.  Some stuff in my past makes me worry if I am coming back to FM and Kodi. I was so happy to see even the bed hog I jumped and kissed him!  Well, time to sign off and push the big lug off my bed!

SG

02/08/2010:

February and Valentines Day!  Happy Valentine's Day to all the folks that follow us RAGOM pups! Here is a big Goosie kiss...smack...slobber!  I am well...guess all the health issues are pretty much resolved for me...thank goodness.  Allergies are still a bit of a problem but I am a champ about my injections.

Went out for a walk with Kodi and FM and it sure was a challenge!  FM had these big feet on...don't tell her but she sort of looked like a duck!  Anyway, she went into the deep snow and we were supposed to follow...so follow I did like the good boy I am.  Let me tell you it was an adventure!  The snow came up to my armpits...Oh yeah, I don't have arms...OK, legpits then.  How she thought I was going to walk I am not sure.....would have been better to crawl.  She kept saying "get behind Kodi...!"  Huh? Kodi was following right behind FM and it did seem to go pretty well for him...guess it had to do with her making tracks for us.  She gave up and we had a lovely walk on the road which is where I wanted to walk in the first place...humans!

Happy "love" day...

Your furry friend,

SG

Been awhile since I did my Goosie update...sorry!  Busy, busy, busy...Valentines Day, Olympics, FM had some toe surgery stuff....I just have been trying to keep up!  I am good.  Had my own health stuff...no big deal. Took a tumble on the ice and my back leg was sore...few muscles relaxers and some pain meds and I am like new...well almost like new as an 11 year old guy can be.  Sure like this warmer weather!  Just came back from my walk..little muddy in the north woods but then I don't need to clean up after myself...  I am anxious for spring.  Checking the seed catalogs and looking for SNAP PEAS!  They were so good last summer! Maybe some beans, few potatoes...yup making out that gardening list of veggies to plant.  So think spring....

Enjoying the sunshine!

Goosie greetings on this Saturday morning.....

I am good...missed my walk for a couple of days because of all the rain AND living on a dirt road.  FM says my "undercarriage" attracts mud.  Looks like take a walk day today!  I have to tell you about my hunting experience.  On two different walks we have kicked up grouse...wily little birds.  They flew and I am yelling "shoot mom, shoot"  No gun!  You would think after one time of hunting them up for her she would bring along something so we could have grouse ala orange!  She said she couldn't shoot anything...   Oh well, I'll hunt them up for fun and just watch them fly away licking my doggie lips and thinking of what could have been.  Have a great weekend.

04/05/2010:

Happy Sunny Monday! I hope you had a good weekend...I was a bit worried about this whole bunny thing this last weekend, but I heard all was well! I caught a bunny last year you know...so-ooo I was worried!

I had a not so good Goosie week. I had a mast cell tumor removed from my right hind leg and it is cancerous grade 3. Guess us older dogs sometimes have this as we age. I am 11 years and 3 months. So, I am going to eat good food, play puppy boy games, ENJOY my people and cross the bridge when the time is right....

Your friend,
SG (Silly Goose)

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Aw, summer I love it!  Goosie checking in...  Few more problems...old age is the pits!  My arthritis is a bother and I have been feeling a little sick. Saw the vet and am on some meds for a few days.  Just spiked up a temp for some unknown reason.  FM will keep a watch on me cause I do have the dreaded C word lingering in my body.  Have had some trouble keeping weight on me..some would say lucky you!  Need to keep taking in more calories. Sounds good to me! Thinking about getting the pool out for a Goosie dip soon. Stay cool and eat a s'more for me!  FM is such a poor sport about that people food for me.

Hi, Goosie's foster mom writing for the Goose today.  Our boy is not doing very well.  His tumors continue to regrow and are most assuredly mast cell again.  We have an appointment to see Dr. Deb tomorrow afternoon.  I know he really is not feeling good.  Slowed down and just wants to sleep in what ever room he finds me....  He has been a joy to foster.  Such a happy funny boy with truly the right name!  Silly Goose!  Silly, silly Goose!

I received this note from Goosie and he wanted to pass it on to all of you....

Hi, it's me Goosie writing from heaven....I crossed the Rainbow Bridge today and what an experience it is...! Well, let me back track a little. My mast cell tumors continued to grow and now I had many of them. Seemed like Foster Mom found a new one each day! She would let a tear drop as she found them, so I knew this was not good. It was time and we both knew it. We did have an awesome day....rib eye steak, lots of hugs and cuddles, watched "Homeward Bound" (old video, but FM just loves it!) and we talked about me....what I brought into her life at a time she needed it the very most. She and Kodi, the fur bro, had lost Foster Dad and Jess the Lab in a two week time span. They needed help....and so did I. It was a perfect match! SG (Silly Goose) to the rescue. I helped them heal, brought lots of laughter with my Goosie tricks, and just snuggled right into their hearts.

FM and Kodi were with me at the vet office today. Dr. Deb and Luann held me close and helped me cross the bridge. I could hear crying, but I want everyone to know it didn't hurt and I am doing well. I know this is so difficult for humans...sometimes doing the right thing is not an easy task. So, thank you to Ragom for rescuing me, my sponsors for helping with my many vet bills and all the folks that followed my bio on available dogs. I love you all! Goosie saying goodbye for now...

Oh, was that a bunny that just ran by...? Oh, yeah I forgot we don't do that here! Not heavenly!

Love and snuggles....
SG
