Hud
Hud #10-167
(Fostered in St. Paul, MN)

Hud is an eleven month old, male Golden who is just drop dead beautiful. He was surrendered by his owner after he required stomach surgery for the second time to remove foreign objects he had eaten. On May 20, he was operated on in Duluth, then Ragom brought him to the twin cities. He arrived at his new foster home in St Paul on Sunday, May 23. While having the yucky stuff taken out of his tummy, they also neutered Hud. So within a few days, he lost his home, had fairly major surgery, got neutered, taken on a long car ride and put in an unfamiliar home. All in all a pretty crummy week for Hud.

BUT, Monday starts a new week and new life for this sweetie. He is sweet but very timid but that seems better on day 2 than on day 1. He has really bonded with the lady of the house but loves everyone. He is housebroken and last night he went from 9:30 PM to about 6:30 AM with no accidents. Given some time for healing, we are sure he will be a great dog.

UPDATES:
05/28/2010:

Hud continues to do very well both from his surgery and his exposure to new things.  We are coming to the conclusion he was not heavy exposed to many things.

He is easily startled by city things such as buses, big trucks and so on. He is kind of a scatty cat and needs a slow introduction to new things. The other day he saw a rabbit in the park and quickly retreated back to FM. We have much construction going on in the neighborhood and some of the noise scares him a little. We had a thunder storm the other night and he seemed fine. We were in the park and he jumped a little at the first crack.  But when I kept calm, he seemed fine. No other issues with the rest of the thunder.

Great news - Hud has been adopted by the B family and renamed Cooper. Hud, sorry Cooper, had a visit to their home about a week ago, and met the whole family: 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 cat. All went well and everyone was very positive.  Hud had to stay a few more days at his foster home to have staples removed and a final checkup.  That's been done now and we are glad to report he got a 100% ok from the vet.

The B family has a large yard and all members were very excited to have Cooper. We wish all the best of luck and many thanks to the B family for taking this wonderful dog into your home.
