Albert is a six-week old puppy who was rescued by a Good Samaritan along with 4 of his littermates and given to RAGOM. His dad was a purebred Golden Retriever and mom was a yellow lab. Albert is the biggest of the male puppies with the waviest hair. He will be a very handsome adult dog, possibly looking very much like a flat-coated retriever. We have split up the 5 puppies, with the two females at one foster home and I’m the lucky foster mom that is fostering the three male puppies. I can’t speak to the females, but the males are very good little puppies.
The original owner must have done something right in that these three pups are very social. They love people. I have to be careful to not step on them since they love to surround me. We go for walkabouts around the yard to get exercise and we look like the Pied Piper with pups following. I walk all over and they just follow behind. It is too cute. The three go into a kennel at night and have been sleeping quietly until about 7:00 a.m. So far, they have kept their kennel clean which is amazing for six-week old pups. Very social, very good, calm puppies. Will be wonderful adult dog pets for some lucky family.
The pups have had their first set of puppy shots and their first dose of deworming meds. They will be ready to be adopted in about two weeks after they are neutered but can start meeting families now. My main criteria for adopters of puppies is that the adopters are looking forward to taking their new pup to obedience training classes. We have learned that puppies that attend two or three sessions of group obedience classes become well-mannered, well-socialized adult dogs and are rarely surrendered back to rescue. If you are looking for an adorable, friendly, happy puppy to mold into a wonderful adult dog, please notify your placement advisor.
Albert is excited to announce that he has found his forever home. He is a very lucky boy and will have a great home. He will be neutered on the 27th and ready to move to his new home a couple of days post surgery. A RAGOM volunteer and one of the puppy adopters took all three puppies last night for a socializing outing to PetsMart. The puppies loved the attention and were exhausted when they came home. They continue to be the best puppies.
Albert (n/k/a Higgins) has moved to his new forever home. He has a new mom and dad to love him and teach him. He’s already enrolled in puppy kindergarten. His new mom is a teacher and will have the summer to help him acclimate to his new home. Higgins loves to cuddle and will be a great adult dog. We look forward to receiving updates of his new life.
