Profile

Neil was recently welcomed back to Ragom.  He is a beautiful four year old male lighter colored PB Golden.  He is all up to date on his vaccinations and was HW negative.  Neil is a big Golden, 86 lbs but the vet said he is at a very good weight and looked to be in great shape.  He has had free roam of my house for a week now and has been perfect.  When he needs to go outside he will stand by the door.  He does stand by the door a lot because he really likes running around in the snow.

He always wants to be in the same room as his FD and loves to be petted or just be close to people.  When he really likes something he even makes a funny noise in his throat like he is trying to purr.  He does like playing with dog toys and will spend plenty of time chewing on them, but never on anything else.  Neil does get excited when people come over and is a little jumpy at first.  With his size he could knock someone over easily.  If you just say no when he is getting ready to do this he stops.  He has almost stopped this behavior after only a week.

He is getting along good with the two resident two year old Golden’s. Neil was surrendered back to Ragom after an incident where he bit a neighbors small dog.   He ran through a invisible fence to get to the dog, so he will need a house with a physical fence and should not be around small dogs unsupervised.

He does enjoy looking for the rabbits under the neighbors trees.   He will stand at the fence in the cold and just keep staring at where he has seen rabbits.    I have a four foot fence and always keep an eye on him because am afraid he might be able to jump it.    So far he just puts his big paws on top of it.  He does bark occasionally, but only when he sees a rabbit or one of neighbors dogs out.   Then still not excessively.

Neil also loves  going on walks, he can pull some while on the leash but is getting better at walking without pulling every day.    When passing other dogs on walks his behavior has been perfect.
