Kekoa 12-016 was a 7-year-old Golden Retriever who came into RAGOM due to severe separation anxiety. Upon arrival at his foster's home, Kekoa bolted away from transporters and disappeared into the night. The week-long search for Kekoa involved dozens of volunteers and hundreds of concerned supporters, and RAGOM spared no expense to see him safely returned.
Tragically, Kekoa was found deceased, killed instantly when he attempted to cross a freeway.
The Kekoa Memorial Fund was established to raise funds earmarked for preventing lost foster dogs and enabling a faster, more effective response should another RAGOM dog go missing. Donations will be spent on search expenses such as flyering, call services, poster printing, etc. We are also looking into the feasibility of GPS collars for dogs at risk of flight.
