2/27/06: Introducing Archie, one of the North Dakota puppies. I hear he is the biggest of the bunch. He has already been to the vet and weighs in at 16.6 lbs. And boy, does he like his food. He usually gets the hiccups after eating, too. The vet said he is in good health and has had his first shots. He is also micro chipped. He didn't care for that part much but he slept thru the rest of his vet visit and shots. He tries to engage my dogs in play and so far one of them just growls at him (the Jack Russell) and my Golden runs away from him. Archie believes that if he is not eating , sleeping or taking care of business he should be held. He is an absolute cuddler, as you can see in the picture. He doesn't care much for his crate and cries and barks for a little bit but then settles down. I took him to my daughter's school to pick her up and all the kids wanted to pet him. He did get a little nervous and buried his head into my neck. He is doing great with my kids - I guess he prefers kids in small numbers. He is doing some puppy biting but is very easily re-directed and stops when I tell him no and clap my hands. He is content to chew on his toys. He seems to settle down quickly when held. So far Archie's only requirement in a family is one that will continue to hold him in their laps when he is full grown and probably over 70 lbs. He's been doing pretty good with the house training as long as I'm pretty good at getting him outside.
