Please welcome handsome Beau to the RAGOM family. Beau is a blind, male Golden Retriever. He is going to be seen by a veteranarian ophthalmologist this month to see if there is any possibility of helping this beautiful guy regain some sight. He has some nerve damage to his hind right leg from an old injury that does not seem to bother him other than some twitching. The vet has no concerns about this. He has no other medical conditions other than his blindness, and he has no bite history.
He is house trained and crate trained. He is doing remarkably well moving around the house by following my voice, and also on his own. Beau lived with a small dog and cats, and is great with my 6 year old granddaughter.
He walks very well on a leash, and rides well in the car. I have let him wander around my back yard supervised, and he goes slowly so if he bumps into anything he just moves around it. He is so mellow, sweet and gentle, and such an easy dog to have around; he has become my shadow and goes wherever I go! I'm sure that once he gets to know he's secure in the home, he'll be ok to just hang out by himself.
He sleeps on the floor next to my bed. When he's in a good sleep pattern, his whole body is on a doggie marathon! His legs go like everything, and I just imagine he's a sighted dog running in the park, chasing other dogs! A good thought! He is just a special, wonderful dog who would love a forever home.
