Bingo arrived in St. Paul on Saturday evening after a LONG drive. She was very scared and overwhelmed when she first arrived. My first impression was "WHAT A GORGEOUS DOG!" She looks like a combination of Golden Retriever and Saluki. She is very, very light gold, almost white. My second impression was "OMG you STINK!"
Three days later, she has been bathed repeatedly, she has a couple more baths in her near future. She had her very long nails trimmed. She went to the vet and the results are surprisingly good. She weighs 48 pounds which is a good weight for her. Everyone agrees she is gorgeous. She is now up-to-date on her vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative and on preventative. She has been Frontlined. She has some easily treated worms and ear infections which are now being treated. Her teeth could use a good cleaning. She came with a spay certificate which shows she is just a little over two-years old. She had been living with her brother Lucky 10-232.
She is housebroken and crate trained. She gets along with my two Goldens and ignores the cat that lives in our house. She has slept through the past three nights in her crate in the dining room. She is very quiet when in the crate. More personality comes out when she's running around the yard. She apparently is used to eating soft food (hence the bad teeth) because she won't really eat kibble unless it's mixed with canned food. We'll work on that. But for now, I caved in and bought some Wellness Stews to mix with the Fromm's. At least she's eating. She's still scared and I don't blame her. So far her experiences in foster care haven't been that great....baths, vet visit, nail trim, pills, lots of shots, blood drawn, ear meds, separation from her brother Lucky. Now that most of the work has been done, we can take the next few days to learn more about her. More updates will follow as we get to know her better.
