Bongo is a beautiful 2 year old Golden Retriever mix; we aren't sure what he is mixed with but he's super cute. Bongo was a stray from up north so my guess is he was a country dog and he is still getting used to all the noise that goes with city living.

He enjoys chasing squirrels and rabbits in our fenced yard with full throttle enthusiasm, and has tried his best to catch one of the birds flying when he's outside. Because he has been so interested in the small animals in the yard, Bongo would probably do best in a home without cats or other small animals.

He wasn't sure about his gentle leader at first but now knows it means he'll be going for a walk, so he tolerates it. Last night we took him for a walk after dark and only made it for 1/2 block. The city noise and car lights really scared him, so we're walking him in the daylight hours now.

Bongo does great with adult humans and would do best in a home with older children or an adult fur-ever home. Bongo is currently being treated for kennel cough and tapeworms, a legacy of his time as a stray, but otherwise is a healthy guy. He only weighs 70 lbs, he is far too thin and you can see all his ribs, so we are giving him extra food so he can put on some weight. Bongo knows some basic commands like sit, down and come, which he almost always responds to. He is a diamond in the rough that just needs to get a little healthier before we can polish him up. More as we get to know this sweet guy better.
