Welcome to RAGOM Butler!!!
Not much history is known about Butler since he was found as a stray wandering the dirt roads in southern MN. Luckily his nose took him to a very friendly farmer who was kind enough to bring him to the HS to make sure he was taken care of, especially since he was already very under weight.
The vet thinks he is about 4 to 5 yrs old, so we will say he is 4 1/2. Like I said he came in very skinny, but has put on some weight and weighed 61 lbs at our last visit to the vet. He is in perfect health except for seasonal allergies that just won't seem to leave him alone. Right now he is on Prednisone and now has also started taking a daily Zyrtec to see if that helps as well. We tried weaning him off of it, but he soon started biting and scratching again so we are assuming that he will have to be on it until allergy season is over with. Not sure if this will be a yearly ordeal since we do not know his past, but the vet mentioned that this has been a very tough year for allergies on dogs so let's keep our fingers crossed this will be it for him.
He is a golden / lab mix and has the sweetest personality....total love bug. He has to be by my side at all times, and even falls asleep with his head on my chest.... I know, how sweet :).
He is house trained in my eyes but due to being on the Prednisone which makes him very thristy, has had a couple of accidents while I am at work. The vet warned me that it will make him very thirsty so be prepared for accidents....and she was right :)
LOVES people (including kids), not sure about cats and gets along great with other dogs. He LOVES car rides and is the perfect passanger.
Sounds perfect right? Well he is...except that when I leave the house he likes to help himself to what ever is left on the counter and trash ;). I just always have to be one step ahead of him and if I forget he is always happy to remind me of this one tiny fault that he has. Over all he is just a awesome guy. I will require a fence for him since he will wander from the yard and still has lots of energy.
As soon as my daughter returns from the cabin with her camera I will get pics up of him...Just to give you a heads up he is adorable :).
