Butterscotch is a beautiful, petite, spayed female weighing 39 lbs.  She is healthy and up to date on her shots.  Butterscotch was found as a stray, so we don’t know anything about her past.  I would guess that she was not exposed to a home or friendly humans.  She entered our home extremely frightened of everything and everyone.  However, after almost a week she has transformed into a super dog.

Butterscotch now goes in and out of our home with confidence.  She can run up and down stairs like a pro.  Butterscotch is now housetrained and easily walks with a leash.  Butterscotch will come up to me to be petted.  She loves the affection.  However, she still isn’t fond of foster dad and takes some time to warm up to anyone new.   Butterscotch has been exposed to our 2 yr old and 6 yr old kids and kept her distance.  I would guess that she needs time to warm up to them like anyone else.

Butterscotch loves playing outside with the resident dogs and follows their lead on everything they do.  She also enjoys the multitude of dog toys and treats in our home, and she makes sure that she is first in line for them.  Butterscotch is a natural at quietly lying at my feet when I’m working.  She is also a fantastic snuggler at night.

Butterscotch does have some puppy behavior.  She is currently snatching any shoes or socks that haven’t found their way to the closet.  She doesn’t chew on them, but thinks it is great fun to have them in her mouth.  She does easily exchange them for a dog toy.  Butterscotch does not like to be crated or confined to a small space.  However, this should not be an issue, because she does a nice job with free roam of the house with the resident dogs.

Butterscotch will definitely need a family that can spend time with her.  She will also need some obedience training to reinforce all the new commands and good behavior that we are working on.  It might be nice for her to have a resident dog to play with to wear off some of her energy.  However, it wouldn’t be a necessity. She is ready to be a wonderful addition to the right family.
