Oh boy do we have a treat for you!

We took in the sweetest foster yesterday.  His name is Buttons and he is incredible.  He tips the scales at a whopping 41lbs. so he is just a peanut, but his heart and his golden soul are as big as the state he lives in.  I try not to call him "little guy", because his heart is so big...

If you are looking for a pint sized lover boy who's middle name is "Cuddler"  AND you have a physical fence that is at least 4' high, Buttons is your boy.

He's been with us for 24 hours now and he has won our hearts over.  He is perfect with our 18 month old son and our resident golden Lucy.  They were playing like best friends after only 30 minutes.  It didn't take long before the words "maybe we should adopt him?" entered my mind.

Buttons is 5 years old (birthday is May 1, 2005), rides great in the car, loves cats and kids and is fully house trained.  We've given him free roam from the start....

He went to the vet tonight and he is totally up to date on shots and vaccinations.  He did test positive for Lyme disease so he is now on Antibiotics for 28 days to treat that. It should not be any problems...The vet gave him a very clean bill of health otherwise, and said he is at an ideal weight and has a very athletic heart rate.

Last night he slept in our room with us and was quiet all night.  He actually likes to crawl under the bed to sleep.  It's very cute and since he is smaller than your typical golden, he can do that...

His temperament is like that of a gentle giant.  He is soooo sweet and takes treats so softly.  He loves being in the same room with you and getting pets.

So he sounds great right?  Well there is one thing that we need to be very diligent about:  We need to find a forever home for Buttons that has a good, physical fence that is at least 4' high and in good shape with no holes.  This morning, we let him out into our back yard and he actually went under our chain link fence and went on a neighborhood tour for an hour before coming back into the yard.  I hope my neighbors didn't mind me running threw their backyards at 6:30 this morning.  :-)

I kept chasing and following him and I think I have him figured out; He likes to roam around and explore, but he also likes to keep you within eyesight.  So after a while I actually "lured" him closer to our home and went thru the open gate into our backyard.  Our Lucy was back there and he came running thru the gate and I closed it.   I spent the better part of the day making sure there were no places he could squeeze under the fence.  He likes to run around the back yard and play with Lucy and he loves to play fetch, but he also spends time looking for escape routes.  I go out with him each time and keep a close eye on him.

So, as I said if you have your eyes open for a near perfect dog that is the size of a puppy, but is mature and calm like an adult, AND you have a good fence.....Buttons is your boy.   When you meet him, you'll see exactly what I mean.  My wife is even falling for him and she usually takes a while to warm up to the new fosters....  :-)

If you're an approved applicant, and you'd like to meet him contact your placement advisor and we can set something up.

At this point, we plan on being at the Plymouth Petsmart this Saturday with Buttons.  We'll arrive at noon and stay as long as he can.

Enjoy the photos of him and thank you for reading about him.

Lucy, Buttons and I continue to pray that Mozart comes home to his family safely and soon.  Stay warm Mozzie....
