Introducing Cedar a beautiful dark red Golden Retriever who celebrated her fourth birthday in January. She was surrendered to RAGOM for being a typical Golden Retriever (aka needing lots of attention from her humans). We have only had her for a couple of days, but she is an absolute gem. She is so calm and though she seems a little sad she has fit into our routine seamlessly. She met our 2 resident dogs and our other foster Tilly (a Great Dane). She had her first experience meeting the cats and though curious and a little unsure about them has done fine.
Cedar is housetrained and used to free roam. I have been home the past couple of days so she has only been alone for 20 minutes so far, but today she will get her first opportunity out while I am at class all day. I have no worries that she will be a good girl while I am gone. She knows sit, stay, come, and down, likes to cuddle up next you on the bed, and loves to squeak her toys. She could stand to lose about 10 lbs and with a good diet and regular exercise I don’t think she will have any problem with this. She is spayed and will be going to the vet this week for a checkup. I will update her page after that.
Cedar rode well for us on her trip to our house and her previous owner said that she is good with children though we don’t have any of our own. She does bark some, but not excessively and we have seen no resource guarding from her. She is definitely a Velcro Golden and wants to be near her people at all times. She has perfected the nose nudge to make sure you keep petting her, but once you tell her enough she goes off and finds something else to keep her busy. This girl is truly wonderful and I honestly can’t really think of many negatives. She will jump when she is really excited, but it has only happened once or twice. Other than that she has been pretty much perfect in the past couple of days that she has been here.
