8/5/05: Chelsea arrived last night, had an event free introduction to my household and has been very quiet ever since. She met my 2 male Goldens nicely and she got screamed at by the cat...all with no reaction on her part. This morning she made the mistake of looking at my younger dog's dish as he was eating and he went after her...she just laid down and I pulled him off her, no blood or damage but she has stayed far away from him ever since. I doubt she'll make that mistake again. I did get her to eat a small amount later after I put nasty one and his always hungry older brother out in the yard. She was spayed on Wednesday so I need to give her pain medication and antibiotics with food (so breakfast was important)...and put meds in both ears as she had ear infections as well.
Chelsea is a 10 year old blonde female, newly spayed, I don't think she's had many (or any) puppies as she definitely does not have a figure like a dog that has been bred (at least not often). She is gorgeous, she could have been a show dog. Her records indicate she weighs 64 pounds. She was an owner surrender to a local humane society so we have her vet records and a brief history. My neighbor couldn't believe she was 10 years old...I would agree except her records indicate she is. She slept through the night...she is crate trained as she went right into the crate in the dining room and has chosen that as her spot...I don't even shut the door...right now she is gathering toys in there with her. So far I know she is housebroken, knows to come, sit and lay down on command. But she is still stressed from her time at the humane society and her move into a strange house (not to mention her recent spay surgery) so I will write more as she settles in and begins to feel better.
