I would like to share a very belated update on Copper (12-309). We adopted this beautiful girl in September 2012. She has been such an amazing blessing for our family!
Copper is a true outdoor girl! Her mild anxiety vanishes when she is running through tall grass, chasing a scent in nature, or sitting atop a snow pile with her favorite tennis ball. She has a sweet temperament and she loves attention from all ages!
We have uncovered a long list of allergens and have made appropriate changes to diet. Copper came to us with a history of seizures. She has had only one seizure since we have had her. (Three years!) The seizure occurred when there was a change in my work schedule, so it was determined that it could have been stress induced. Since getting on top of Copper's allergies and boosting her immune system, her overall health has improved significantly. She is also playing more, chewing on bones and becoming more assertive. (That is great news for this previously very timid girl!) She does not enjoy playing with toys but we continue to offer her plenty of options, just in case.
She is friendly with other dogs and we think Copper would enjoy another RAGOM companion in the future. For now, she is content with our cat's occasional attention and, of course, all human interaction. She is good with children but seems to really enjoy middle school aged kids. We have struggled to pass Obedience School due to her anxiety but we will continue to seek an ideal opportunity. She would be a joyous and loving therapy dog! She enjoys going to the dog park but she spends most of her time checking out the landscape. She will occasionally interact with some of the dogs but she mostly seeks attention from dog owners. She is a funny girl!
Big thanks to RAGOM for this treasure! Copper is showered with love daily!
