I have the pleasure of introducing the very lovely Miss Emma to all of you RAGOM fans! Emma is a beautiful, 7-8 year old PB golden retriever. She is at an ideal weight of 70#, has a soft, honey golden coat, and has the sweetest, most adorable white face you’ve ever seen! She has been to the vet, has been groomed, is UTD on all shots and preventatives, is heartworm and fecal negative, and has been microchipped. She is currently being treated for hookworms/roundworms, but the last treatment will be given within the next two weeks. She had some sort of accident involving her tail in the past, as it is very short and missing some hair, but that doesn’t stop it from wagging like crazy! She was an outdoor dog and now she is loving it up being indoors.
We absolutely are totally in love with this wonderful dog! She has a gentle, sweet personality, and couldn’t be more of a Velcro dog. It has been a joy watching her become adjusted to a house – learning to walk on wood floors, walking up and down stairs (she now bounds!), learning to eat healthy meals at set times, and of course, becoming acquainted with furniture and beds! Other than pulling a bit, she walks quite well on a flat leash, and jumps up and down with excitement and makes these cute little noises when she knows it’s time for a walk. After her walk, she tends to knock right out for a quick snooze:
Emma gets along great with the resident dogs, and of course has learned the joys of lounging on a comfy leather couch from them (she said to make sure you all realized she was the cute one on the right):
Emma is learning to play ball, and absolutely adores chew bones and treats of any type. Her favorite game, however, is popping her head out from under the tablecloth to demand a pat!
Miss Emma is a very smart girl, is extremely eager to please, and learns quickly. She is completely housebroken at this time. With the help of treats, she has learned to sit and lie down, and we’ll start working on other commands shortly. She has earned free roam in our house during the day, but we do presently kennel her at night as she likes to sleep directly on top of foster mom at the moment. The crate isn’t her favorite thing, but she settles down fairly rapidly, then sleeps soundly through the night. My understanding is that she has been exposed to cats, and has no trouble at all with them. She is crazy about my 16 yr old son and his friends, and apparently does well with younger kids as well.
As for her current status, Miss Emma was scheduled to be spayed this week, then kindly decided to go into heat a couple of days ago! She will therefore be spayed in approximately 4 weeks, and at the same time, the vet will be removing and biopsying a mammary mass that was found on exam, as well as possibly extracting 1-2 teeth. Though she is more than ready and deserving of meeting her furever home, Emma is going to be listed as “Unavailable” at this time, and I unfortunately won’t be looking at applications for her until she is listed as “Available” after her spay. Please check back for updates on this sweetheart – she is a wonderful dog, and she knows the perfect family is out there waiting just for her!
