Fancy is a 4-year-old purebred Golden Retriever. She was surrendered by a breeder that will no longer be in the breeding business. Fancy is a medium golden with very light colored feathering. She is a very pretty girl.

She has been an outside dog all of her life, so she is learning what it is like to live in a house. She is doing great. I have had no accidents in the house so far. Fancy is often timid about going in and out through the doorways but is getting better each day. We have discovered that she does counter surf, as she has gotten bread off the counter when we have turned away. She is used to a crate because she spends her time in the crate we have in the kitchen, even though we don't put her in there. I think she is just more comfortable laying in there.

Once Fancy learns what it is like to be a dog she will make a great family pet. She plays with Gabby very well and gets along with our cats. I know she would be great with kids, but at this point she would do better with older children as she is a little timid around loud noises and sudden movements. I think that will get better when she gets used to being in the house around lots of activity.

We will be going to the vet this week to get her vaccinations and a general wellness exam. She will also need to be spayed. More to come when we get to know her better.
