6/26/05: George/Bosco went from the RAGOM picnic for IOWA volunteers to his foster home in Muscatine, IA on June 18th. We tried calling him George, but that didn't work. Bozo seemed insulting to his nearly perfect behavior, so we started calling him BOSCO (which sounds close to Bozo and is far less insulting since it is a chocolate syrup from my childhood).
I can't begin to tell you how wonderful this guy is. He has behaved perfectly at my house (well, except for the day we brought him home and he lifted his leg on a living room chair). We took him to the vet and had him updated on his shots, his heartworm test was negative and he was neutered last Friday. As soon as he has fully recovered from his surgery, he will be ready for his forever home.
He is a dark red, tall and lanky boy weighing in at 75 pounds. He has been affectionate to all of my family members and has never met someone that he didn't like. His favorite spot to nap seems to be right in front of a floor fan. He likes to sleep in our bed for a short time, but soon gets too warm and moves to the floor. He likes to come to you for pets and lay his head in your lap, and will nearly fall asleep while you massage around his ears. He has no health issues that we are aware of, such as ear infections or allergies.
Bosco gets along well with my nine (!) resident dogs. The only incident that we had was with our other foster, Lady Britt 05-154. Bosco came over to sniff her and she started barking at him and backed him off and even chased him a little. We are pretty sure that she did it because at that time, Bosco was an intact male and Lady Britt was telling him that she did NOT intend to have any more puppies, so keep away from her!!!! They are now good buddies and play together.
Bosco has a wonderful personality and seems to be all that we love in a GOLDEN. This guy will soon be ready for his forever home. I will try to get pictures of him for the web site this week. Please email [email protected] if you are interested in meeting Bosco, but please remember that he is being fostered in Muscatine, IA and not in Minnesota!
