Profile
Ginger #10-237 is approximately 1 year old; and is a sweetheart petite female Golden Retriever who weighs about 40 lbs., so she's on the small side. Ginger was originally turned in as a stray to the local animal shelter then was adopted out soon afterwards to a family who had her for a few weeks until Ginger and the resident cat did not get along. The family contacted RAGOM and Ginger had a temporary foster family until she arrived with us last week.
Ginger needs one more shot to be considered updated, then she will be spayed in about two weeks. Ginger has a very quiet manner; and gets along very well with adults, kids of all ages, other dogs and seems to get along with other cats also, with the exception of the one in her previous home. Ginger prefers to patiently watch everyone before joining in to play and is getting more playful everyday.
Ginger is completely housebroken. She will stand by the door when she wants to go out, and does her duties outside in the woods. Ginger is a huge cuddler. She prefers to sleep in your bed if you let her, but also does fine sleeping on her own somewhere in the house. Ginger will wake you up with a big smile on her face as she does her best to get you up so she can go outside.
I would consider Ginger to be a low-maintenance dog. She only needs short walks even though I've had her out for a couple mile walk and she does fine with only some minor pulling. Ginger can be walked off leash and does stay around the yard, but we keep a very close watch on her as she likes to wander a bit. Ginger does retrieve and will bring her toy back to you and let you gently take it from her. Ginger did do counter-surfing once even though she seems to eat quite well considering her size.
Ginger will be checked out this week by our friends at the Garrison Animal Hospital (she loves to ride in cars and does great), so please watch for another update soon. Ginger will do great in most any home whether for a single person or a whole family as she's that type of dog that seems to be comfortable wherever she is.
