Gunner is 12 years old—you would never guess by looking at him. Gunner is reportly a mixed breed but is very Golden looking in color and feathering. He joined RAGOM a month ago after his family was deployed for the Air Force. This is the second family he has lost due to serving our country. Thank you to these folks! Now, it is our time to serve Gunner!
Gunner is deaf and spends most of the day sleeping. He is getting better about relaxing outside and taking naps when we sit on the porch. At first, he would pace back and forth, now he settles in for a nap. We often wake him to go outside, potty, or for walks. Do you have that perfect spot that he can nap in your house?
Gunner still loves a short game of catch with his favorite green ball. He has enough energy for a walk around the block several times a day. He has gained a bit of weight and could add 5+ pounds to not feel his bones.
His teeth are pretty bad, worn down and the vet did not recommend any dental work. Soft food and water to soften the kibble helps him eat more of his meals. Gunner has had a few UTIs this last year and finished up his antibiotics. His bladder control is better now but he wears a belly band overnight and when we are gone to avoid accidents.
A couple of weeks ago, Gunner was around children and enjoyed playing ball with the kids. He slept on the kitchen floor without any worry for everyone walking around him.
A couple of days ago, Gunner escaped the barrier I had at the deck stairs. So, we know he can do stairs! He wandered around the backyard and when I got his attention, he came back to me. Maybe his hearing is selective versus deaf?
Gunner is a sweet senior who needs a home for napping and to hang out for the remainder of his life. He also needs another dog in his home, as he spent his entire life with his companion, Sugar 21-076, who passed away recently.
How are your floors? Worthy of a special senior for his lounging? If not, please consider sponsoring our senior dogs to help offset their expenses.
