Profile

Say hello to RAGOM's newest little cutie patootie, Henry. Henry was left at a public dropoff for the humane society in the Black Hills of South Dakota, so we don't know anything about his history. He is a darling, young (approx. 1 year old), energetic boy, who seems as if he must have lived in a house before. He knows how to sit, knew how to do stairs right away, jumped right up on the couch, and basically made himself at home. I'm not sure yet if he's completely potty-trained or not. He had an accident last night shortly after he arrived, but the first night doesn't count since new fosters are always out of sorts, and he also drank a lot of water after the long car ride. Today he's been going out with my 2 Golden boys and seems to know to take care of business outside.

Henry has done fine with my two dogs, but definitely prefers squeaky toys, tennis balls, and me, to playing with other dogs at this point. My 7 month old is relentless though, and may get him playing yet. Henry's two favorite past-times are eating, and trying to put as many toys in his mouth at one time as he possibly can. His record is three, but he's going for four. So far he doesn't seem to be a "master destroyer" like my young guy, but rather seems to think it's exciting enough just to carry his prized possessions around, squeaking away.

Speaking of eating, it's a good thing this boy enjoys it so much! He's pretty underweight at only 41 lbs, so we'll enjoy putting some meat on his bones. He has eagerly gobbled down all food and treats, with gusto! Henry had a vet appointment tonight, and she thought he should gain 10-15 lbs, so he'll always be a pretty small guy, under 60 lbs unless he's not done growing. Other than his weight, Henry got a clean bill of health. His teeth are pearly white, and no ear infections! He is now up-to-date on shots, was micro-chipped, and had his heartworm test. We'll get those results tomorrow, and if all is well, he'll be neutered on Wednesday. More soon on Henry, the little "pretty boy" that the shelter told us was a girl. He came in with the name of "Honey", which we quickly switched to Henry, although both have proven to be fitting. He is also quite a honey.
