9/10/05: We went to a Humane Society today and brought back Hunter. He is a lovely, kind, quiet, wonderful boy. He is a dark red Golden, not neutered, has a growth/tumor on his left rear leg, and his teeth need cleaning. He is only about 50 lbs. Hunter is very affectionate and has no problem with males, even though he has been abused by men in the past. He's perfect with the rest of our crew (3 dogs), knows "sit", and handled a bath just fine outside in a kiddie tub. I believe he has a slight skin condition (exema), but his ears and eyes are good. His coat was icky from being at the Humane Society.
This dog is just wonderful. He is so very kind - no noise at all. I gave him a chew bone earlier (pig skin type that I give our Border Collie) and he likes that. He ate good for me (puppy dry food and mixed with wet). This boy is a typical Golden - wants pets, rolls in grass on his back, patient, kind/loving, etc. Hunter is very underweight and thin - very thin - more so than you see in the pictures.
We are very happy to take Hunter into our home. We will get him into our vet asap next week, probably Monday or Tuesday as this is the weekend. He does need his rabies vaccine but has had distemper and Frontline applied. He does not startle easy - he's so very friendly and just a good, good boy! He has marked his "territory" out in the back yard. Hunter loves being outside, just watching the wind blow and finally having his freedom. We'll take him for long walk tomorrow with the rest of the troups.
Enjoy the pictures! What a sweetie with a white face!
