Profile
Welcome Isabella, our very first foster dog. She arrived in Ames yesterday afternoon and has been a wonderful addition to our home. We picked her up from the transport's home in Ankeny (thank you to everyone who helped bring her to us) and she sat on my lap the whole way home while my fiance drove. Isabella is a petite 2 year old female who weighs between 40-50 pounds. She has a wonderful deep golden coat and is just a beautiful girl. She met our resident dog Mia with no problems though we have found that Isabella can be a little possessive of her toys (only with other dogs, never with people), and we are working on correcting that. Mia completely understands and just keeps her nose away from the tennis ball. Though Isabella has not been around cats she has been great with our resident cat, Louie and good with our six foster kittens. She is interested in them but doesn't bother them. I think she would be just fine in a home with other cats.
Isabella's favorite game is fetch, and I think she would play forever if you would let her. She also likes to go for walks so we walked on the trails behind our home for about an hour last night. She did pretty well on the leash, pulling at first but then settling down really well and just enjoying the scenery. She met the neighbor children and did just fine. She does like to jump when she gets excited so she may knock small children down. Isabella still has some of the energy of a puppy but loves to just hang out as well. She loves getting belly rubs and is very attached to the humans she is around. Isabella will be going to the vet tomorrow to get up to date on her shots and then she will need to be spayed before she can go to her forever home.
