Greetings From Grand Forks, ND,
Well, here is what I know about Jack, aka "Big Jack"... we have a resident golden named Jack so we decided to call them Big Jack and Little Jac...
Big Jack is 3 years old, he weighs 88.5 pounds and is such a loving, sweet golden. Jack was in a shelter in Fargo, ND, the shelter was full and his time was up.  Hence he is now in Grand Forks, ND living with our family.
Jack is a very nice guy, he knows sit and lay down for commands. He knows his name is Jack and will come running when you call for him outside. He gets along with the other furr butts in the house, he takes treats nicely, he loves to ride in the car... You might think he could be a trucker the way he likes to ride. He sits on the seat and doesn't do any moving around... He faces forward and just watches the road.  He's a great helper. Jack loves to play tug and he likes to chew balls... We haven't had much opportunity to play fetch with all the snow we have. Jack walks very nice on a leash and is very polite. He doesn't jump on people, he loves kids (his tail is constantly thumping when my 15 year old is home), he only chews on dog toys... he doesn't chew socks, shoes or anything else... He has been staying with us since last Wednesday and he hasn't barked yet. Jack is a tall boy but not a counter surfer... he is almost level with my counters and he doesn't ever try to grab at anything. He loves itchies and scratchies and will move your hand to continue the rub if he's not ready for you to quit.
Saturday we went to the vet and he was again, a perfect gentleman, he met 4 other dogs and didn't even sniff them. One of the dogs was very sick and had an accident on the floor, I thought Jack would probably go and potty too but nope, he walked around it to the other side of the room. Anyways, Doc said Jack is in great shape, he is now up to date on all his shots. When we returned for seeing Doc, all the furr butts were outside playing in the snow and there happend to be an event near our home. There was a man on a microphone and it was pretty loud in our back yard, Jack got scared ran into the house and I couldn't find him for a bit... after giving our home a thorough search I found Jack snuggled in our bed... the funny part of the story is he stayed there the rest of the afternoon.

Jack would make a great companion for anyone single, young, elderly or family. There are a couple of things I'm still trying to figure out about Jack. He won't go down the basement and he won't walk down a hallway or go into a room where the lights are off... I'm thinking he might of had a bad experience maybe left in a basement with the lights off but I'm not sure. He is still a bit stressed or else he is afraid of the dark because at night/bedtime he pants alot, only when the lights are shut off... we will try a night light tonight and see how that goes.
One thing I forgot to mention, he is totally housetrained.... no accidents since his arrival..
If you are interested in meeting Jack and giving him a forever home please contact placement.
