Profile
Jackson is a 1 year old intact male whose family surrendered him because they felt they couldn't spend the time with him that he needs (play and walks). He and my Sadie got along right away and there has been no problem with him adjusting to his new foster home.
So far, I have discovered he has a lot of energy, but nothing that is unusual to being a 1 year old puppy. He came from a home with 2 cats and another senior Golden, but after getting him to my house it became immediately apparent he is very scared of cats. The ones at his old house used to attack him a lot (I saw this happen). This makes him very jumpy to sudden movements and sudden loud noises. My cats want to be friends, and I'm sure that will come with time.
He also seems scared of doorways, and I haven't quite figured that out, but each time I let him in from outside, he gets a little more comfortable with being able to come freely inside. Other than that, we went on a walk today, and he pulled very hard on the leash. He is very strong (80 lbs), and I discovered he likes to chase other small dogs. His surrendering owner also said he chases birds. We will continue to leash train.
He is getting neutered on Monday, and will have a full wellness check and get UTD as well. To sum up my first 24 hours with him, what a teddy bear! He actually initiates dog hugs where he will come up and put his arms up and lean in and press his face and nose into your neck. He also makes a lot of "chewbacca" sounds when playing which is cute. He really enjoyed sleeping inside on the bed last night, as he was usually crated in a garage at bedtime. We have had no accidents in the house, except he did mark one time upon initially entering the house, in the first 3 minutes he was here. Nothing since then.
He is also very handsome, as you can tell from the shots.
