Profile

Jake was surrendered to RAGOM by a Good Samaritan who found him roaming the streets and who was unable to find Jake's owner. Jake is an exuberant diamond in the rough. Because Jake is toy aggressive, any children in the home should be age 13+ and Jake should be an only dog. He has not been tested with cats. Jake needs either a physical fence or multiple ways to burn off his energy; no invisible fence for Jake. Jake is looking for an active, adult home with a focus on exercise and training.

Jake was found roaming a Minneapolis neighborhood and taken in by a Good Samaritan. After exhausting all efforts to find his owners, he was surrendered to RAGOM’s care.

Jake is a high energy adolescent dog with all the loving qualities of a typical golden retriever. He loves to play fetch or walk you around the neighborhood. He needs to be drained of his energy then becomes the biggest snuggle bug ever.

He is very smart and can open doors and gates. His foster mom jokingly calls him a land shark as he likes to pick up items around the house and still is in the chewing phase.

He will protect toys as his own and can be a little mouthy so he will need to be an only dog with no young children (dog savvy teens over 13 would probably be okay).

Jake will have his wellness exam end of October so his weight and age are a guess. His neuter is scheduled for later in November and any selected adopter will need to plan to wait until that surgery is complete. He has not been tested with cats.

Jake definitely likes to be with his people and will bark during the day when crated. Therefore, apartments or homes with shared walls would not be a good fit for Jake. Jake is looking for a home with active adults who can provide him training and multiple opportunities for exercise every day.
