Welcome back to RAGOM, Jett (previously known as Jedi Knight).  Jett originally came to RAGOM as a puppy.  You can see he was an adorable puppy!!!  Jett and his family are  victims of the economy.  Jett’s adoptive dad lost his job and the family is moving in with relatives.  There were a lot of wet eyes and tears saying goodby to Jett.

Jett was pretty confused and stressed when he arrived Saturday afternoon.  We gave him a night to just chill out and relax.  He slept in the guest room with me last night with the door shut so he didn’t have to be bothered by the other dogs here and he could just relax.  He was less stressed today.  I’ll write more as we get to know him in the days to come!

At a Glance #06-334

Mixed Breed Born: January 2007

Jett has been with us now for a few days and he is so much more relaxed.  We’re starting to get to know him and he’s a sweetheart.  He is housetrained, and lived with cats and kids.  The surrendering owner did tell us that a lot of noisy kids would make him nervous, so I would prefer that he not go to a house with very young children or lots of children.  He was very nonchalant about the cat and could easily live with cats.  He gets along very well with the dogs here and some are small dogs, so very good with the small dogs too.

I took a couple of full body pictures so you can get a better idea of what he looks like.  When he was a puppy, we were told Golden Retriever/Black lab mix, but I’m guessing more likely Golden Retriever/maybe Newfoundland along with something else mix.  He’s not as tall or big as a Newfie, but he has the rounder body style.  We’ll be scheduling his vet appointment and a grooming appointment for next week.  It will be interesting to hear what breeds they think he may have in his genetics.

His first couple of days here pulled at the heartstrings as he kept staring out the gate.   You had the feeling that he was ready to go home.  The last few days he has seemed much happier.  He’s running around the yard now and eagerly runs up to us for attention.  At night, he hops right up on the bed with us and lies quietly until morning.
