Hi everyone! My name is Jersey and I am new to the RAGOM family as of Thursday July 28th! Let me introduce myself.
I am a female labradoodle and I am 9 months old. So we are setting my birthdate at 10/21/2010. I am 38 pounds and VERY skinny, so I need to put on some weight on my frame. My coat is a little thin right now, so with some good nutrition it should fill in just fine.
I was surrendered to a humane society by a person that had had me for 3 months and who had some job changes and didn't have any time for me. I was used to being outside on a tie-up for 8-10 hours a days and crated in the bedroom at night for 12 hours. So I would only get a couple of hours of human time each day. That is not enough for a young puppy like me! Plus only 2 walks a week just wasn't enough.
I came in with the gorgeous Marco 11-253. He and I became instant friends. When we were dropped off by the wonderful RAGOM transporter, we got to run around for a bit and then it was outdoor bath time for the both of us. We both did GREAT with bathing and blow drying and loved the attention. Then I got to run around with my new fostersisters, both of whom are Golden Doodles. Though everyone was bigger than me, I tried to play with everyone! I am a super social gal and love to play. FM doesn't see any aggression in me. I try and hip check everyone and then go underneath them. I am good at listening to dog signals, as one of my fostersisters gave me some "settle down now" growls because I was very excited. After a couple of hours playing, it was time for Marco to go home with his new fosterdad, so we came in the house.
After checking out the house, we decided to relax and watch some TV. FM invited me up for a snuggle. I am very much a lap-dog and loved the attention! A couple of hours later it was time for bed. I slept in a crate in the bedroom and did great. A couple of little whimpers, but I settled right down and slept all night for 8 hours.
I do have some good springs in my feet too! I am not baby-gate respecting yet. I can hope effortlessly over a babygate. FM says it is gazelle-like. But hey, rules are meant to be broken, right? (FM says not-so-much. Hrumpf) I do not resource guard my food or any toys. FM can take them away from me no problem. I am just a big lover.
Some things to remember about me. I am a PUPPY and therefore have lots of energy and will require a lot of time from my new family to socialize me, take me to obedience class, and just LOVE me and play with me. I am going to prefer a home with a fence. And if you have another playful dog, that would be the best! (FM has yet to decide if I can be an only dog in a house or not.)
On Monday 8/1 I have an appt with Dr. G to get a heartworm check and be brought up-to-date on vaccinations and get my microchip. On the following Monday 8/8, I am scheduled to have my spay surgery. I will send another update after my vet appt to give you the 411 on my health status. I would be ready to go to my forever home a couple of days after my surgery.
If you are interested in meeting me, please contact your placement advisor. While I am waiting to hear from you, I will be busy out and about with my fostersisters getting some new socialization opportunities. First stop is Chuck and Don's for a new toys and some treats and to find some kids to meet too.
Bye for now.
