Lizzie is an 11 year old AKC registered purebred Golden and was turned over to RAGOM by her family. It sounds like they have small children and just didn't have as much time anymore to spend with her and her other Golden brother. Lizzie had a little too much time on her hands and was starting to cause some mischief.
Lizze has been with us for a few days and she's a real gentle sweetie. She's a little shy around people and she really isn't too sure about the Golden Armada of Rosie, Shane and Honey 04-05-151. Shane has been very nice to her and Rosie likes her, but Honey has told her off a few times. Lizzie doesn't bark, she just hangs her head, like Eyore.
Lizzie is a very pretty caramel colored honey blonde Golden, with pretty curls and a little grey/white frosting. Beauty shops charge a LOT for this look! She is a field Golden, with longer legs and body and a pretty shaped head. She has a vet appt on 5-14 to check out some eye staining and a few sore spots. She should also get some Duramaxx or Rymadil. She's got a pretty stiff back end.
Lizzie does have a counter surfing habit which we discovered after she got up on top of the microwave, on top of the counter and fished down the new loaf of Manitowoc Ovens High Fiber Wheat Bread. She also managed to go waaaayyy back in our closet to find the free 6 oz. sample package of Macadamia Nut Brittle that we got at Christmas and had yet to open. She's also shown some interest in cat poop, and little interest in her dog food. Of course, she's just full. After a frantic call to our vet, we determined that there probably weren't enough macadamia nuts to do much damage, but to just watch her. So far, she seems to have a cast iron stomach. I guess Lizzie taught us that we aren't as dog-proofed as we thought!
Lizzie acts a little as if she's always been a spectator in the family and not a participant. We are hoping to draw her out of her shell and see if we can get her tail to wag when she's happy, excited or just because she feels like wagging it. She has a little Eyore in her and I know we can draw out her inner Scooby Doo.
