8/20/06: Fr. Gene...Lola here. Well, now I finally know what "going up north" means...a couple real nice ladies drove me to this place, probably what you call a cabin, and the first thing I did when I got out of this lady's van was run down and put my paws in the water. No, I didn't wade out too far and ruin my new "do," but today, I'm going to try to catch some of those wiggly things in the water and maybe, I said MAYBE, I'll go out on that dock-thing by myself. The lady took some pictures of me. (Remember, I'm the cute one.)

When it got dark, Fr. Gene, I hope it wasn't too scary for you without me there to protect you. Guess what? I was doing my job by watching over this lady up here in this cabin place. I'm not sure how she got along before I arrived with only these two lazy boy dogs here, but she told me how happy she was to have me laying right beside her bed. (Remember, I'm the protector one.)

So, Fr. Gene, you can tell I'll have my paws full here for awhile teaching these boys about watching over their human and they'll need me to show them a few manners, too. Of course, you can count on me to always be on my best behavior. (Remember, I'm the good one.)

And guess what else? This lady here remembered the ear medicine and to give me my peanut butter treat before bedtime. Then she gave me and my foster brothers our nightly blessing...

Oh, it was nowhere as good as yours, Fr. Gene, but what can you expect...she's a Lutheran.
