1/22/07: Meet Mohican! Little Mohican took a long trip to Minnesota from Cedar Rapids, Iowa after being kicked by a horse and fracturing her femur. She has since had surgery to repair the break and is on the road to recovery.
What an absolute living doll (we call her McDreamy…even though she’s a girl!). Mohican is an 18 week old purbred Golden who is as sweet as the day is long. She is always giving kisses and snuggles right in for a nap in our arms! You would never know she had surgery within the past week other than the fact that her hind left leg is shaved and covered in staples. She is all puppy! Loves to play, play, play, even though I have to try to keep her somewhat quiet. She is completely housebroken, no accidents at all this week and she sleeps in her crate throughout the night without making a peep!
We think she looks like a minature fox! She keeps all of us laughing….she loves the snow and will bury her face in it. She then jumps out from where she is standing and looks quickly to the left as if she were saying, “Who’s there?!” She then will just as quickly look to the right, “No! Who’s there?!”
She is fearless. Our two resident Goldens weigh over 65 pounds (Mohican weighs 20 pounds) and she will hop up and try to bite their faces and want to play! They just look at her and walk away, but she is undeterred! She will follow them and persistently pester them for attention! She has learned to walk well on the leash this week and seems to know when to settle down for quiet time.
Mohican went to the vet on Friday, January 19 and is doing well. The vet would like to see her stay quiet for another few weeks to give the leg a chance to heal and come out of this 100%. She was microchipped and brought up to date on all her shots and will return this next week to have the staples removed and check her progress some more.
There will be more updates on Mohican as she continues to recover!
