Profile
Welcome to RAGOM sweet Lucy. Lucy is a 1 year old PB Golden, with a medium colored coat. Lucy was surrendered to RAGOM by her SO because they were not able to give her the exercise she needed to be a well mannered puppy. Lucy weighs 65 lbs. and the vet would like her to lose about 5 lbs. I think this will be easily achieved with proper exercise and nutritious dog food. I am currently feeding her Dick VanPatten’s Venison and Sweet Potato, she really likes it. She is in good health, very silky and up to date on her med’s and spayed. She is currently not on HW or FT meds.
Lucy came to my house last week and is settling in well. As I’m getting to know Lucy, here is what I have learned so far:
- She came to me from International Falls and the cold we had this weekend didn’t seem to bother her.
- She is still very much a puppy and needs lots of exercise
- She has not been baby gated or crated. I think if you leave her, she should be contained because she is just a little girl and likes to get into trouble: Kleenex, toilet paper and socks left around.
- She will do well with a family that will take her places, do fun things, and include her in all family activities.
- She responds to basic commands – come, sit. But she does get over-excited and wants to jump on you. I’m working on that. She may not work with small children as she would probably knock them down. 10 to 12 year olds seem fine.
- She loves to chase the ball, even if I’m the world’s worst thrower.
- I work from home so she has not been left alone. I don’t think she would do well with a long day alone, at this time.
- She likes to get in the car, but is sometimes hesitant to get out.
- Not a furniture sleeper and sleeps beside my bed.
- We went to the vet and she was very anxious and afraid. She sat in my lap on the floor during the examination. She needs her nails trimmed, but I decided enough for one day.
- I think she would be a candidate for a 2 dog home; she does not appear to be an alpha dog at all.
- She needs some training, can be good on a leash and also drag me around, a good candidate for a gentle leader.
- I don’t know how she does with cats.
- I have a fenced yard and she is getting used to going out by herself a bit. Loves to dig in the deep snow. Looking for critters?
- She likes to lay on your feet when you sit down.
- I left her yesterday for a meeting. Lucy 1 - winter hat 0. I can still wear it, it was too tight anyway.
Lucy is a very sweet little girl who would be a treasured addition to her forever family. Please contact your placement advisor if you are interested.
