Max is a very loving, playful pure bred Golden Retriever that arrived at our home about a week ago. He’s approximately three years old and still very much a puppy! Max loves other dogs and enjoys racing around the backyard and playing with our resident Golden. He plays fetch but isn’t ball crazy and you do have to wrangle with him a bit to get the ball back.

He is up to date on all shots and received a clean bill of health from the vet. However, he is about 90 pounds and she would like to see him get down closer to 85. His surrendering owner said that he may have allergies but neither we nor the vet has seen any signs that would indicate he has allergies.
Max is one of the few Goldens we’ve met that isn’t food obsessed. He would much rather be playing or getting belly rubs. We actually have to stand next to him while he eats otherwise he’ll leave his food behind (for the resident to gobble up!). Max knows a few commands such as his name, “no”, “come” and several others, although it doesn’t appear he has received formal training. We have not heard any growls and we’ve only heard a bark once (in a playful setting). He does appear to be housebroken, as he has not experienced an indoor accident.
We saw some cats at the vet clinic and he didn’t seem interested, though he hasn’t been tested with a cat in the house or yard. He is very friendly to the neighbor children, but due to his large size and playfulness, he could have the potential to knock over toddlers if left unsupervised.
