Molly

Profile

1/10/06: Molly arrived at our house with enthusiasm on 01/07/06. She is 8 years old, 60 lbs., and fully house trained. She was an owner turn in to an Iowa shelter as a result of a move. Her owners indicated that she had been a house dog and had gone through obedience training; she is very responsive and treat motivated. She handled transport and introductions like a world traveler. She bounced right up to me for some affection, ran into the house, located the dog toys, grabbed one and settled right in. She met resident dog Kellie with a quick sniff, and ignored the cats. She LOVES dog toys, and managed to de-stuff Flamingo Fred within a day of arrival. She can spend an hour gnawing on a Kong, and carries a stuffed animal around most of the time. She will join you on the couch to curl up next to you, and with gentle head-butts or a paw, will let you know she needs a little lovin. She might bark when she wants to play, or just needs your attention, and she makes some very cute play noises. It was noted in her file that she has a hip problem, but I have seen no indication of it. She RUNS up the stairs, RUNS down the stairs, RUNS into the house when she's done doing her business, and RUNS to find a toy to play with/carry around. On occasion, she will find the dog bed, and do a dramatic flop down onto it, like she's ever so exhausted (drama queen). I haven't seen her truly exhausted yet, but she sleeps well and is currently testing out several locations to find a favorite. She is fit and trim at 60 lbs., and walks very nicely on a standard leash. She is UTD on shots, but is currently being treated for an ear infection, and will be having a small cyst removed. Molly appears to be quite adaptable so far.
