January 30, 2011 Last weekend, from a filthy barn full of nearly 90 dogs suffering the ravages of neglect, 12 Golden Retrievers were welcomed into warm homes and the loving arms of RAGOM volunteers. Among them was a litter of eight puppies, only four weeks old, including Sweet Rona.
With the help of several members of the RAGOM transport team, Rona and her brothers and sisters made the long car trip to Minnesota without their mom (though the puppies weren’t weaned, the mill owner refused to surrender the dam). Since their arrival, several of her siblings have been diagnosed with Parvovirus, and one, Ali, has died. Though Miss Rona did have some symptoms of the disease she is now over five pounds and doing well, and RAGOM will do everything possible to keep her that way.
Named after long-time volunteer Rona D., little Rona has the spirit, determination and big heart of her namesake. She has survived some of the worst that people have to offer a dog, and come through it with her Golden smile and her tail wagging, ready to give the two-leggers in her life a second chance.
Once Rona has been spayed, and is ready to leave her littermates, she will be available for adoption. Are you the family that can teach this sweet girl that life is good? Would you consider making a donation of any amount to help defray the medical costs for these pups? Do you have the resources to sponsor this girl in honor of a dog who blessed you, a survivor in your life, or just because she needs your help? | |
