Hey Everybody - Ronnie is here! Ronnie is a 15 month old PB golden born on October 23, 2009 and he is a bundle of energy. Ronnie came to RAGOM from a wonderful family in Anoka. They had adopted him from a well known breeder in WI who specializes in hunting and family dogs. They got Ronnie with the hopes that their special needs son would really enjoy having a dog. Unfortunately it did not work out as hoped.
He was certified by the breeder to have no issues with hips and eyes. Ronnie is AKC registered and his AKC name is Rocket Ronnie. Hmmmm..... how fitting. He is up to date on all shots and is neutered. He weighs 65# so a typical size for a golden. He is a dark blond in color. He has beautiful feathering and wavy air on his ears.
Ronnie is great with kids and LOVES other dogs. He enjoys any kind of play you or another dog will throw at him. At his age he has a lot of energy that needs burning off. He would be great for a jogging partner. He has been to obedience class and does obey some commands. He needs to learn stay. That is the hardest thing for him to do as he is in constant motion.
He does not do any resource guarding of food or toys. He likes to play tug-a-war with resident golden Max. He sometimes gets carried away with Duster a 10 lb poodle mix. He should be watched that he does not hurt little dogs unintentionally. It is unknown how he would do with cats.
Ronnie will kennel up when he is told, but he does not like it much. He can be vocal when in the kennel. It helps to put a kong or chew toy in with him. Keeping Ronnie entertain and his mind busy is the key as when he is bored that he starts to be naughty. Due to his age and energy, I don't feel comfortable about leaving him out of the kennel when I am at work. I think given time and maturity he will be trustworthy.
Ronnie has not had any accidents in the house. He will pace when he needs to go outside. He needs practice walking on a leash as he pulls somewhat. Ronnie seems to be a little anxious when riding in a car. He will jump from front seat to back seat and back again. It might be a better idea to put him in a seat restraint or a kennel in possible.
Ronnie likes being brush although he gets bored with it. So you have to be fast. I have not caught him on the counter but when I open a door to say the linen closet or open a drawer in the bathroom vanity guess whose head is in my way. Curious George would be a better name for him than Ronnie.
Ronnie is ready to go to his forever home. So if you are ready for energy and excitement he is just the guy for you.
