Ruby arrived at our house two days ago. She is a very sweet and friendly Golden. Her family had to give her up for adoption because they were unable to spend enough time with her to provide the exercise and attention that she needs and deserves. It was a very difficult decision for them to make. They love her very much and hope she is placed into a good home.
Ruby is a four year old, spayed Golden weighing about 72 lbs. We will be taking her to the vet this week for a check-up. She is a very gentle girl. When we're working, doing house work or out in the yard, Ruby is right there with us. When we're relaxing, watching TV or reading, Ruby is relaxing too. At night she sleeps on the floor next to the bed - although if given the chance, she'd love to be up on the bed!
When we leave the house Ruby is contained to our second floor while our Golden is contained to the first floor. Ruby is not crate trained. She is, of course, house trained. Ruby has not shown any aggression toward us. We are able to put our hands in her dish while she eats and take her toys out of her mouth. She has shown signs of possessiveness towards toys and food around our male Golden. We don't allow them to eat near each other or play with toys or bones with each other. When food and toys are not around, Ruby and our Golden are able to get along. We believe Ruby would do best if placed in a home without other dogs. She needs to be queen of the castle!
Ruby was used to grazing on her food all day. Since she has been with us, Ruby eats two times a day. She seemed to adjust very well to that.
We have noticed that Ruby is a bit timid around loud noises such as the vacuum. According to her family, she is afraid of thunder as well. They said she would get as close to them as possible during a thunderstorm.
Ruby is a catch! She is gentle, easy going and wants to be loved up. A true Golden! Not to mention very cute! We will continue to send updates as well as more pictures of her.
