Profile

I have the distinct honor of introducing Sadie the Spectacular to all of you RAGOM fans!  Sadie is an absolutely stunning 7 year old PB golden retriever.  She is at an ideal weight of 75# and has a beautiful, deep red coat. She has just been to the vet, and is now UTD on all shots and preventatives is heartworm and fecal negative, has been microchipped, and is on meds (of course!) for a double ear infection.

Sadie was found as a stray, was eventually turned over to Animal Control, and to our great pleasure, has now been turned over to us to become a fully loved RAGOM girl! I can tell you right now, if FM wasn’t committed to being a foster, this girl would be staying in our home in a heartbeat!

We have had a truly fun first week with Sadie, and all I can say is that she LOVES life! She is a young, joyful 7 yr old, and is a terrific mixture of energy and playfulness, and sweet, gentle Velcro dog.  We’ve discovered that she LOVES car rides (she was thrilled when she scored treats at Starbucks, Walgreens, and the bank, all on one day), loves going for our 2 walks per day with the 2 resident goldens (she walks great on a flat leash), eats with gusto, and is always first in line for whatever treat might be coming her way!

She loves to hang out on our deck and in our back yard in the beautiful fall weather, rolling in the leaves and watching the ducks in the pond:

She loves tennis balls better than anything (she can hold two in her mouth at the same time, but FM can’t get that picture!), but also likes various chew bones and squeaky toys:

She loves hanging out with the resident dogs (who by the way have become quite good at this foster fur-sibling thing!), and attempting to look pathetic when FM has to work instead of play:

And when all the playing and walking and driving around are done, Sadie is more than happy taking a snooze on our deck, with of course a tennis ball or two within sight:

Sadie is completely house-trained, and has had zero accidents while here. She earned free roam by Day 2. She has slept quietly through the night since Day 1, either on the floor next to FM, or on the various dog beds scattered throughout the main floor, which is where the resident dogs like to sleep. She has met other dogs outside our house, and has done just fine.  While in Animal Control, she was also exposed to cats and completely ignored them.  She is crazy about my 15 yr old son and his friends, but hasn’t had the opportunity to meet any younger kids yet – we’ll do that before the next update.  She has excellent name recognition, and knows how to sit, shake, sit pretty, lie down and come. We are working on stay, and as she is a very smart girl, I’m sure she’ll pick it up soon!

Sadie will be spayed on Monday, October 18.  At the same time, the vet will be removing and biopsying two mammary masses that were found on exam.  Though she is more than ready and deserving of meeting her furever home, I am going to hold off on talking to and meeting with prospective families until we get her test results back, which will hopefully be by the end of next week.  Please check back next week for an update, keep this sweetheart in your thoughts, and in the meantime, paws crossed for GReat results!
