10/14/05: I would like to introduce Sammy. Sammy is a 5 year old, neutered Golden mix. He has been surrendered to RAGOM after spending 4 years with a wonderful family and getting the best of care. Sammy has decided that 170 acres isn't quite enough land to roam on, and was visiting the neighbors that have livestock. The neighbors were kind enough to warn his family, before doing something that was undoable. A reminder that no matter how much land you have, dogs need to be contained to their own property, it is the law. Unfortunately, for this family and Sammy, containment was not a possibility.

It absolutely broke my heart when his 15 year old mistress surrendered him. She has trained him in showmanship, obedience and agility. Sammy is a wonderfully behaved boy with a big, gentle heart. She has done just a beautiful job with this guy. She also told me that he can jump high, so a six foot fence is a must. He comes with a list of all the commands that he knows.

Sammy also has separation anxiety and will need to be with someone most of the time. He is very well mannered and gets along great with other dogs and cats. It takes him a little longer to warm up to some men, but he seems to like all women and children. He is house trained and a very calm guy. Sammy also loves to go for walks and of course is very good on a leash.
