It is my absolute pleasure to introduce you all to Sandy.  Sandy is a golden mix estimated to be around 8 years old.  Her family had to move into an apartment and had too many dogs to take so they lovingly let RAGOM step in and help.  We want to thank them as we know how hard it has to be to give up a "fur member" of the family.

Sandy went to the vet today and weighed in at a whopping 67 pounds.  He feels her weight should be more like 50-55 pounds so we will be working on that by more walks and less food.  So far all of her tests have come back good but we are still waiting for her heart worm results. 

While grooming her last night I did find, what we now know is, a tumor by her rectum.  The Dr. is not sure if it is cancerous but the blood tests make him feel that it is not.  We will be talking with him to see what the best option is for dealing with this. 

She came into our house and met our three dogs with no problem.  In fact, seeing them is what finally made her wag her tail.  She does exhibit some puppy mill traits so I think her perfect home would include a fur brother or sister, but we will know better as we get to know her.  She a sweet, sweet girl and so far we have not had any accidents. 

She will need to live with someone that is not afraid of a little hair because she has a LOT of it.  And someone that is willing to groom her on a regular basis to keep the mats and tangles from forming again.

 

We will update you again soon when we have spent more time with her and see what the Dr. has to say.
