Profile

RAGOM fans please meet Serena (10-204).  Serena came into the RAGOM family on Saturday July 3rd along with 8 other dogs from a backyard breeder.  You can say she really had good reasons to be celebrating Independence Day!  Serena is 9 years old and was born on April 3, 2001.  Thank you to all of the kind RAGOM volunteers who went and picked up Serena and the other dogs and brought them to Jane N's house where all the dogs were bathed and mini groomed before going to the foster homes!

Serena had a wellness check up at the vet's tonight.  She weighs just under 66 pounds which the vet thought was pretty good considering where she came from.  Her heart-worm test was negative, YAY!  We will get the results back tomorrow on her fecal exam.  Because Serena was said to be pregnant and due on 7/26 the vet gave her a thorough pelvic exam.  She said she did not feel anything to indicate that she could be pregnant.  Also based on Serena's age she said it would be highly unlikely for her to be.  So after that portion of the exam the decision was made to bring her vaccinations up to date.  Serena's ears were checked and they are in pretty good shape, nothing a little bit of ear flushing will not take care of.  Serena is missing many of her lower teeth.  The good news is that her remaining teeth, other than being wore down in spots, are solid.  The big remaining medical procedure will be to have Serena spayed.

Serena is settling in nicely.  The biggest issue we currently have is getting her to eat.  I left her dish of food in her crate when I went to work and it looks like she did eat some.  Some of the food was outside of her crate though.  We will try and figure out what her appetite craves and stick with it.  She has not had any accidents inside the house, unlike the other foster girl who has been here nearly 6 weeks.  Serena figured out how to navigate the stairs to the lower level on the first night.  She is a total sweet heart and will make someone a great companion.

Serena's future home should have the following:

Another confident resident dog.
No small children (12 and over preferably)
Physical Fence would be ideal.  Although I doubt she would venture far from her peeps once she has settled in.

Please watch the website for future updates on this sweet sweet girl!

XOXO
Serena
