9/10/06: Meet Shelly! Shelly is a good-natured girl who?s had a very long trip this weekend ? coming all the way from a shelter in Missouri. A series of generous volunteers brought her in stages out of Missouri, across Iowa, and into Minnesota before we picked her up and brought her home. Right now, she?s sacked out sound asleep on our living room floor.

She had a bath immediately upon arrival ? like across the threshold and right into the tub! She thought the bath was pretty scary, but she sure needed it. She could actually use another one, but I?m not sure she?s up to the trauma! She is already spayed and up-to-date on all shots, so she?s soon ready for an adoptive home. As is often the case with stray or un-cared for dogs, she has some kind of ear infection ? her ears were cleaned out last night, but it?s obvious she?s bothered by them and often scratches them or shakes her head.

Overall, our first impression is this is a sweet girl who?s going to make someone a great companion! Her forever home will have to be able to overlook a bad hairdo?Shelly was so matted, the shelter had to shave her. In the ?before? picture you can see she really did look like a Golden once, and she will again. Shelly loves to be outside, hasn?t had an accident in our house yet, and LOVES milk bones.
