Hi Everybody,
I am Try, but so far you only know part of my name. For starters Try is a shortcut for Tripod (cause I have 3 legs). But the new spelling suggests something better. In my new home with my temporary family my whole name is Try And Succeed. How many dogs do you know with 3 names. Kinda kool for a dog with 3 legs, huh?
So you must be wondering how I got here. It was quite a journey from South Dakota. I had a loving family that brought me to the shelter cause they had to move and couldn't take me. Huge paws up to Rona, the shelter, vets and the transport people. The shelter & vet made sure I'm up to date medically, gave me a bath and nail trim. My ears were icky and I got medicine, so they're almost perfect now.
Now for my stats, I'm about 2 1/2 years old. I am fixed (whatever that means). I don't remember when I lost my leg, but it doesn't matter. I run and chase and play like every dog. My athletic trainer is Heather and Meg is my big smart sister.
I lived with kids and I really miss them. The only time I bark is when I'm in my kennel. I don't like that place. The surrender papers say I'm not housetrained. That is a mis-truth. I don't have accidents in the house. So my foster parents are taking it slow with me. I was scared the first nite, but foster mom stayed with me on the floor and then she let me out of the kennel and I laid on the floor, too. Nites 2 & 3, I was very tired. I slept in my kennel and didn't make a peep until everyone got up at 6:00am. Because they are starting to trust me on nite 4, I got to sleep with everyone in the bedroom. Woooo hoooo. No accidents or incidents.
I stayed in a puppy pen in the kitchen today. I have lots of room to walk around and stretch. And I had a big surprise for the people when they got home......that's right! No surprises. So I'm pretty sure that I can be considered 100% accident free and housetrained. One more day in the pen and I've got free roam.
I almost forgot to mention Tuesday nite, a bunch of people came over and sat in the driveway for National Nite Out. When I finally got to go out for a meet n greet, I met everyone with my tail wagging. It was very fun. They all loved me. And last nite we went to some friends and they loved me too. The guy laid on the floor with me and we fell asleep. They want to keep me, but first they have to apply and go through the application
process.
Try and Succeed was spent today in the puppy pen with no accidents. So he will have free roam tomorrow.
At first Try was afraid of carpeted stairs. He slunk down them one at a time with gentle coaxing. What goes down must go up, so we had a scared boy there, too. The next time he went downstairs was at a comfortable walk. No encouraging or coaxing needed. He flew back up and has flying up and down without a care since. Heather & Meg rarely go down to the scarey "finished" basement. Its also difficult for Try to get in the car, but he is figuring that out, too. Seriously, Try attempts everything first and then excels at it the next time.
Larry 10-197 came over last nite for a cat test. The boys bonded instantly. We had to cut the yardplay short because the knats were dining on us.
Tonite we all went for his first walk. He was very confident. I don't think he was out on a leash much before RAGOM. Try needed a couple rest stops, but he made it all the way. He was tired momentarily when we got home, but ready for yardplay after a short respite. I cannot believe his stamina and attitude. His tail is constantly wagging and he always wants to be with someone, furbutt or human. He is a very special boy!
If you meet Try, I promise you will fall in love. He is so sweet, obedient and attentive. If we didn't already have 2 furbutts, he'd be a keeper. (I know, I've said that 11 times). And its been the truth with every single one. If you want to give Try a try, contact your RAGOM placement advisor.
And please check our RAGOM Facebook page to help find Mozart. Thank you!
