Profile

Hello RAGOM fans! We’d like to introduce you to Tucker! He is a 10 month old, purebred Golden Retriever weighing in at 70 lbs. Tucker was surrendered to RAGOM due to lack of time, space and his energy level. He has been with us for a little over a week now and we have gotten to know this great big lovable guy. At the time of his surrender, Tucker was up to date with his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. He will have a visit with a RAGOM vet soon and will then be ready for adoption.

Tucker is 100% potty trained. He has not had an accident since we have had him. That’s pretty good for a young guy getting to know new people and a new house! We let the dogs out into a fenced yard on a regular basis and if he has to go out in between times he will go to the door. Tucker is crated at night and when we are away from home. He goes into his crate when given the command to “kennel up” and he definitely prefers to go in on his own. One time we guided him by the collar and he was not fond of it. He let us know with a little growl. He does not bark while in the kennel but is definitely ready for some attention when he is let out.

Tucker does well with kids. His foster siblings are 12, 11, and 7 years old. He does like to jump up once in a while and needs reminders to stay down so for that reason, we think he would do best with school-age kids.
Tucker has been to some obedience training and he has quite a few manners and knows some commands. Of course he is still a young guy so he often needs to be reminded…pretty typical stuff for a puppy of 10 months old. Tucker knows to “sit”, “shake”, “lay down”, “high five” and “come”. He walks extremely well on a leash with a gentle leader. He will sit before crossing the street and knows to heel.

Tucker gets along well with our 6 year old yellow lab, Skeeter. They like to play keep away with the tennis ball, wrestle with each other and run in the backyard. Tucker does like to dig holes in the yard! We are not too fond of this and have been working with him on it.

Tucker definitely loves attention and will seek it out! He gives nudges with his head, his rump and will nose your hand when he wants some petting. He loves to carry around socks, sticks, toys or pretty much anything. He is not destructive with furniture, shoes, etc but he has chewed a part dog toys, pencils and a few socks. He is not an excessive barker. He greets the walkers on our path and anyone who comes to the door but quiets down nicely when told to stop barking. He LOVES attention.

Tucker will need a family with rituals, routines and firm discipline...all things typical for any puppy. His adoptive family will need to be prepared to handle his demand for a lot loving attention…he loves interaction and wants to be PART of the action. He is sure to be a wonderful addition to his forever family! If you are interested in a youthful, energetic, fun-loving BIG puppy like Tucker, please let your placement advisor know.
