Take In Goldzilla—a Good Cause, a Great Day, and a Gigantic Outdoor Dog Event

Minneapolis, MN (August 21, 2018)

Retrieve a Golden of the Midwest (RAGOM) invites all dogs to attend one of the biggest Golden Retriever events ever.

On behalf of Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes in the RAGOM community, we offer a truly unique day for all breeds of every shape and size to share a day tailored for their enjoyment, such as:

  • Paw prints painting
  • K9 Nose Work® demonstrations
  • Photo contest
  • Lure course
  • Doggie lotto
  • Agility
  • Beach swimming
  • RAGOM reunions
  • Vender village
  • Wine pull

The dog’s family can also peruse the vendor village for merchandise, bid on silent auction items, score a bottle of good wine in the wine pull, and enjoy food from local food trucks. Everyone can participate in the Walk for Rescue where money raised supports our mission of rescuing, fostering, and finding forever homes for Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes.

A photo and video opportunity of more than 600 golden retrievers and all types of dogs romping in the park. Media can interview rescue volunteers who can tell stories of rescues and new life with loving families. Media will receive an update on the Goldens rescued this past year from Turkey.

The event will also recognize more than 450 volunteers who support RAGOM and who have rescued 150 Goldens and mixes thus far in 2018.

  • Meet 600 beautiful Golden Retrievers, many who have been rescued from Turkey
  • Video and photograph hundreds of dogs and volunteers

RAGOM is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that began as Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota in 1985, with one homeless Golden Retriever in a shelter whose time was up. RAGOM's founder, Jane Nygaard had her spayed and vaccinated and found her a loving forever home. Since then, countless volunteers and generous donors have stepped up with the energy, selflessness, love, and funds to rescue and rehome more than 9,000 Golden Retrievers and Golden Retriever mixes.

In 2017, RAGOM adopted a new name—Retrieve a Golden of the Midwest—to reflect our dedication to expand our rescue efforts from our original home state of Minnesota to include Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and western Wisconsin.
