What a beautiful day to be a dog!!! Well, even a people...! I have a new permanent home! I am one happy Golden! I am on my way to Iowa....no more cheering for the Gophers with my foster Dad! The S family has made me a member of their household. With a Golden smile and a happy paw wave I head down the highway to become an Iowa Hawkeye!

Happy Spring! What an awesome day for running and playing in the sunshine. I really like to be outside doing doggie things! I stopped at the vet today to check my weight and I weighed in at 70.2. Gained a couple of pounds over the winter but I still look terrific. I have a family coming to visit me on April 3 and sure hope they think I am the special dog for them. Well, happy spring from me to you and go throw a tennis ball for your favorite Golden!

It is me Tika again....guess they are going to let me write all the e-mails. It's ok, I can manage to fit it into my busy schedule of eating, snoozing, ball playing and supervising the squirrels. Did you hear the news? We used to be all girl dogs at our house but NOW we have a boy foster brother. He is fine....for a boy. My foster dad says it is good to have another boy in the house....he was really outnumbered. That's fine, but when we vote on things he will still lose!!! Not much new. But how do you like the sun and warm weather? I love it! We still have lots of snow to melt so spring isn't here in the north yet! I will write again soon......

Hi Tika here...Just went for a doggie ride with my siblings to pick up dog food. It has been a quiet day...breakfast, doggie ball in the yard with some rolling, sniffing around and digging in the snow. I really like it when my foster mom and dad are home for the day..means more playtime outside! We have lots of snow up north and it is crusty so we can walk on top of it. It is much better then that soft snow that swallows up your ball!!! Lots of dogs to look at on the web page...dont' forget us seasoned older girls!

Ah, a touch of spring....and we have enjoyed playing outside even more! Even though our snowbanks are rather large, our Tika just runs through them or leaps over them. She laid in front of the patio door this morning and watched the squirrels at the feeder for about an hour. When she went out the squirrels were in for a chase! How can a dog resist! I really can't believe this girl is 9+ years old. What spark and energy! I know there are lots of puppies on the site but don't pass up our senior dogs - they have much to offer!

Tika here....I noticed other dogs have typed in their very own plea for a "forever" home, so with a little practice I learned how to operate this computer thing too! Yup, I have had two homes already and that kinda hurts...my foster parents say that I am a wonderful dog and sometimes stuff just happens and people have to give up their dog. Guess that is true with me...! I would like to be your only fur kid cuz I can be possessive about my toys. My foster parents say I am a very good dog and some family will be delighted to call me their own! I NEVER have had an accident in the house, have zero bad habits, know how to sit, down, and most importantly...come on command even on our 10 acre yard! I will bark if my parents wait too long to take me out and also speak for treats! I love to play fetch especially with two balls...I drop one for you and you throw the other...sure took everyone here a long time to figure that one out! I like car rides and just look around or sleep. I do eat special food for my allergies. It is fish and potato and I snarf it right down. Tika is delighted! More snow! That's because she doesn't have to worry about driving in it or shoveling! This girl really loves to be outside. She waits for me to say "outside" and she is the first dog at the door. Tika is very good at listening to commands and comes readily when called, even if she wants to stay out for two more hours and I'm freezing. She continues to be a model Golden...but really wants a family of her own! She will be best as that "only" dog and reward you with dog kisses and complete devotion. Tika is the alpha dog or a wannabe for sure. She and our 12 year old resident Golden sometimes give a growl or snapat each other. Our yellow Lab just takes it all in and seems to say, "Yeah, just remember WHO let you live with us...me... the first furchild!" Tika is a wonderful dog looking for her very own family...please consider this energetic 9+ girl. Age is only a state of mind and no one is telling this dog she is older! She has so much to offer a family, couple, or single!

Just had to show off our pretty girl...! Tika loves the snow! Rolling in it, playing in it, and a great game of snow tennis ball fetch. More snow expected this week in the north woods...makes for a happy pup! I am available to make snow angels at your house....just e-mail placement@ragom.org and ask for Tika!

Tika had her follow up visit to the vet today for suture removal and received the good news...her tummy lumps and bumps were benign! She had surgery on 12/28 to remove a couple of tumors and we have waited, not so patiently, for the lab report! Tika is now ready for her forever home. Tika has gained a few pounds on her new dog food and weighed in at 66lbs. today. She is a perfect size 8......!

I need to share her "we have guests" personality from last weekend. Friends of ours arrived on Sunday evening for an overnight visit. Tika was delighted to see them...like long lost relatives she greeted them enthusiastically at the door and when asked to sit and shake... she did!!! She may have thought ..."is this my new family?' Unfortunately they are selling their house and currently live in Texas. Tika was not to be dissuaded...Monday morning I noticed their bedroom door open and thought maybe their room temp was a problem...no.... Tika found a way to get the door open and was lying contentedly by their bed until one of the resident dogs checked it all out and Tika barked saying "hey these people are mine....!!!!" Tika continues to impress us with her gentle personality. She plans to visit a pre-school class where I work and I know she will delight the children with her quiet and happy nature!

Wow what an awesome dog....! Tika joined our family for Christmas at our son and daughter-in-law's home and was a model guest! She was involved in wrapping paper frenzy, a family meal with 12 guests, toddler hugs, sleeping in a strange bedroom and having to be in her kennel while we ran some errands! She did great! She is so adaptable! She is sleeping behind me as I type and just gave out a huge sigh....good to be back in familiar surroundings I would guess. She is a very relaxed dog with an excellent temperment. We truly enjoy her. If you are looking for an older dog that has some pep but knows how to behave, Tika maybe the girl for you!
