Helping Golden Retrievers and Golden Mixes Stay Home Through Medical Support
Sometimes a dog doesn’t need a new home—they need help recovering from an unexpected medical crisis.
A serious injury, emergency surgery, or other unforeseen medical event can place an overwhelming financial burden on a family. In some cases, those unexpected expenses lead families to consider surrendering a beloved dog or, when treatment costs feel out of reach, making the heartbreaking decision to euthanize.
How We Can Help
When it’s safe and appropriate, RAGOM’s Veterinary Services Outreach program may be able to help. Families or their veterinarians may contact RAGOM to determine whether financial assistance and support could allow a dog to receive needed medical care and remain with the people who love them.
Depending on the situation, our team may provide:
- Guidance on treatment options and next steps
- Consultation with your veterinarian
- Financial assistance for approved emergency medical procedures or treatments
- Support throughout your dog’s recovery
Every request is carefully evaluated based on the dog’s medical prognosis, quality of life, and the family’s ability and commitment to provide ongoing care. Our priority is always finding the best outcome for both the dog and the family. While we cannot assist in every case, we are committed to helping when financial hardship is the primary barrier to a dog receiving appropriate medical care and remaining safely at home.
If you’re considering euthanizing or surrendering your Golden Retriever or Golden mix because of a significant, unexpected medical expense, we encourage you to contact us before making a final decision. In some situations, Veterinary Services Outreach may provide the support needed to help your dog remain with the family who already loves them.
