Nolan
Profile
Meet Nolan! This 4 year old mix breed is ready to be your loyal goofy companion. With his beautiful markings and big fluffy tail, he would love to be the center of attention as an only dog. Nolan has not been tested with cats and does exhibit resource guarding so a home with young children will not be suitable. A physical fence is optional, as long as he has a safe space to show you his zoomies!

Murphy is so smart! He is talented at training his adoptive mom. He will use his paws to guide their hands to exactly where he wants to be petted or move his head. And he pokes his head under their arm when he wants some attention. After a long hike at a park, Nolan and his adoptive mom stopped at a friend’s for a doggie play date. Murphy found the water bowl empty and promptly picked it up and brought it to her friend for a refill. He loves going for walks in his new neighborhood. As soon... Read more → Read less ↑

It turns out Nolan is a great host! Louise brought her dog Mike, who has a friendly personality, to see how Nolan would interact with another male dog. They initially met on opposite sides of the fence, where Nolan greeted Mike with a chirp. From there, they walked the fence line together until Mike could enter Nolan's territory. Mike came in, they sniffed each other, and they became fast friends. Nolan even tried to get Mike to play! We all went inside, and even in close quarters, they w... Read more → Read less ↑

Mike came in, they sniffed each other, and they became fast friends. Nolan even tried to get Mike to play! We all went inside, and even in close quarters, they were well-behaved, as if they had known each other for years. While Nolan does resource guard and still acts like he wants to be the alpha, he gets along well with dogs who are not aggressive.

Nolan is a true character with an endearing sense of silliness. When he goes outside, he’ll zoom around to burn off some energy, but always checks back to make sure you're still there. He has a unique, playful bounce when he walks that might remind you of a very large, happy rabbit! Indoors, he's a gentle and well-behaved houseguest: he takes treats gently, gives the vacuum cleaner a wide berth, and follows his favorite people everywhere they go.
Nolan thrives in a calm environment where he is the primary focus. He would prefer a home where he is the only dog, allowing him to soak up all the attention and love. However, with a patient and confident companion of a similar size (not dominant or aggressive), he might be okay. He resource guards those he loves, so he needs a family that understands this and can provide consistent boundaries and love.

Nolan easily adapts to your rhythm. Once inside and settled, he’s happy to chew on his Benebone or take a quiet nap. At bedtime, he goes into his kennel without hesitation and sleeps soundly through the night. He is still working on his leash manners—he sometimes stops for mandatory pets mid-walk—but he is eager to please and his training is progressing well.
Nolan vocalizes his displeasure when left alone in his kennel for the day, letting you know he'd much rather be with you! He's currently settling into his foster home and showing more of his sweet, loyal nature every day.

Nolan is looking for a forever family ready to provide the patience, structure, and endless affection he craves. Could that be you?
